great purchase September 16, 2007 K. Barto (Slippery Rock, PA) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
Book was received quickly, only after i called customer service and i told them that i wasn't waiting 3-4 weeks for delivery. They were going to deliver it in October, around midterms.. and that just wasn't a possibility for me, so i called customer service, the man was very nice and helpful and he got my book to me in about 4 days. Book was in great condition and is very helpful in my class.
Very descriptive, easy to read and understand September 11, 2007 Bio Geek (Maine, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This textbook is easy to understand and read. Makes it easier to read than previous biology classes I've had before. It's very descriptive and goes into great detail.
A & P September 3, 2007 R. mann (MS) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Great book. It covers anything you wish to know about A & P. The CD and the poster insert was really good.
Love this book, it's like a bible for anatomy and physiology!! August 31, 2007 Katelyn Slawkawski (New York) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I will keep this book for good! It is such a great and useful resource! I really like the way it was written and it is easy to understand. Great buy! I definitely recommend it!
Good, but not Great August 29, 2007 Marten (Phoenix, Arizona) 5 out of 10 found this review helpful
I used this book for 2 semesters in a distance learning class. The book came packaged with a lab book, CD and I also purchased a study guide.
I found the textbook OK. I think its main limitation is 8.5x11 size. This limits the size of diagrams, tables and photography, making it more difficult for a visual learner like myself to tie concepts together. So I drew up a poster connecting microstructures with macrostructures; as well as diagrams. Physiology was most difficult to comprehend, even with the paired CDs.
I was dissapointed to use 3 seperate books (textbook, lab book and study guide), with all the same information. I ended up having to use a lot of desk space to correlate information between the sources. Luckily I have a huge kitchen table in my home!
I'm also dissapointed that textbooks are not offered digitally. I suppose this is due to copyright, but I'd give a major body part to not to have to lug around these books, which I say ring in at about 15 pounds.
I also thought the study guide had much to be desired. Coloring is a great way to learn! I advise visual learners to avoid the study guide (although the study guide has the same questions in it, albeit in different fashion than the lab book) and purchase this coloring book: "The Anatomy Coloring Book", Kapit/Elson. Children also enjoy coloring in this book!
