When ordering online, check for the same product at about 1/2 the price. July 29, 2009 A. Roger Smarr (Columbia, SC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I ordered a Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary for around $67, but then I found the same book scrolling down for only $37.55. So I ordered the $37.55 one. My order did not include the $67 one in the about 8 emails they sent me, yet they shipped both of them to me, and I had to worry about shipping the expensive one back. They were nice about my return other than charging me $3.99 for postage, since they said it was my error. My credit card # had changed from the one they had on file, and they said my information did not match the information of my bank. So then they put me thru the fifth degree asking me for my checking routing # and account # and licence #. I felt like I had logged on to a hacker and was worried my identity might be given away. I sent an email to this effect to customer service and never got a reply. But now I've got my Taber's and am enjoying it very much, and amazon.com has refunded my money. I have a 1981 Taber's that I bought when I begun Nursing School and like it much better than the Stedman's Medical Dictionary. I am a Retired Registered Nurse with a BSN degree. When you buy a text, just check for a cheaper listing of the same book. I bought a DSM-IV-TR (Diagnostic Statistical Manual) from amazon.com some time ago and paid the almost twice as much price, which I discovered sometime later and couldn't do anything about it. I don't know what amazon.com is up to with this deceptive practice!
