Excellent book. September 10, 2009 Joanne Monterroso (usa) This is a must have book for all internal medicine residents.
The shipping was excellent, fast and the book was new and with no damages.
In many hospitals around the country.... September 4, 2009 Noel C. Hastings (Sacramento, CA) Before residency I rotated at many hospitals throughout the US. Washington, Utah, Maine, Alaska....and now as an Emergency Medicine resident, California. In all those places the many interns and students walking the halls had various references in their pockets. This little red book (which was blue before this edition) is the one reference I see continually in many pockets and that I use regularly. Whether on Medicine, EM, Surgery, SICU, etc.... it covers what you need in an easy to read, digest and use format. There is no perfect reference, but this will get you a long way and from what I have seen, most students & residents feel the same. Highly recommended! The ring binder format is nice, allows you to add your own 4x6 note-cards with your own pearls to the sections you want or to mark the sections of patient problems that you are following. The only downside I see is that the pages are very thin and easily tear at the ring binder holes as you flip through the book, but it is so useful I would spend the time fixing these pages because I won't give up this book!
disappointing... August 26, 2009 Jessica Farrone (Fairfield, CT United States) I agree with the last reviewer on all points. This book is quite disappointing. The content is superb but the presentation is horrendous. The publisher did a very poor job. Ringbinder is bulky, impossible to open quickly and flip through pages, pages are too thin, and font is ridiculously small. There are large portions of the pages left blank for "note taking" but ink bleeds through the "tissue paper" pages (You're lucky if you don't poke a hole through it first with the tip of the pen). The favorable reviews sound like suck ups. I give it 5 stars for excellent content, but subtract 3 stars for lack of usability in the real world
Dropped the ball at the goal line... July 21, 2009 Rob Nash (Quillabamba, Peru) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Excellent content, but made less useful by poor publishing choices. Ringbinder takes up too much space/weight, impossible to handle quickly, pages rip out easily(only format available when I ordered). Paperstock is feather thin, print on obverse bleeds thru(anybody who gets more than a few months of use without loosing a page must be quite 'delicate'). Font is very very small and the ink is pale. These authors don't work nights anymore. Authors claim of 'color' is truely singular, a pale pink is sometimes seen. The favorable reviews sound like plants and juniors sucking up.
good handy reference July 10, 2009 elkay (new york, new york) This is a great thing to have in your pocket. My only complaint is that the index isn't that well-organized but everything you need is in this book!
