Quick Reference October 4, 2009 Subhose Bathina (Selma,AL,USA) Good pocket companion, covers most of the conditions you see in inpatient settings. Real handy during your Internal Medicine rotations.
Doesn't cover some pretty common diseases October 3, 2009 F. HUYNH I heard wonderful things about this little pocket book. However, when I got it for my clinical rotations, it seemed to be sorely lacking in terms of some of very common diseases. I like that it fit in my white coat pocket and that's about it.
The Medicine Bible September 29, 2009 Comme La Lune Whatever people may say, for an intern this is a great resource to have in your pocket when you're deciding which tests to order and how to shape your assessment and plan. Anything in a white coat pocket is a pain, but this makes it way worth it. Used it in med school, and it's still highly recommended!
Great Must have for any resident esp. PGY1 September 20, 2009 Brian Chou (Austin, TX United States) Holds 90% of Medicine Dx that you will encounter as a resident.
Concise, bullet point format easy to decipher and understand. It is by no means comprehensive, but covers a lot of ground for the size and convenience.
Great charts and fast tx for the bread and butter of medicine, helpful with workups for almost any case syncope, GIB, fevers, electrolyte imbalance, cp, SOB, so forth...it evens has significant classifications and prognosis when relevant.
Has a nice appendix with ACLS algorithms, ICU meds, ABx and formulas
This is only a high yield pocket book, and as with any medical field you enter, a reference is also supplemented.
I recommend this along with pocket MD (or maxwells), a good pharmacopedia (PDA/book), and EKG book and you should be set for the wards.
Personally, I use it daily!
excellent September 14, 2009 Rajeev Gupta (Maryland, USA) this is an excellent book to revise the differentials, work up and basic management during on call
