The ONLY book to buy to learn about Twitter June 29, 2009 I. Boublil 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have only good words to write about this great book. It teaches everything one needs to know about Twitter! It is an easy read, EVERY page provides photo example of what the Author is describing, and it does not skip a thing.
If you need to learn everything about Twitter, you ought to purchase this book.
It's called "The" Twitter Book for a reason June 27, 2009 Marci Alboher (New York, NY) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Full disclosure here -- I know Sarah Milstein well, and since I'm lucky enough to be a friend and colleague, she's been my private Twitter tutor for quite some time, teaching me tricks and tips that took me from skeptic to convert. Now that The Twitter Book has arrived, I'm thankful that I can share her Twitter expertise with the rest of the world. Like the service it demystifies, The Twitter Book delivers a huge bang for a rather brief investment of time. And the title couldn't be more fitting since it is "the" book that will quickly and amusingly answer all your questions about Twitter and turn anyone from observer or casual user to a savvy participant in what has become a vibrant subculture. The book has the added benefit of being portable and visually appealing -- again, like the medium it covers.
The Essential Guide to Tweeting June 25, 2009 Andrew Shaffer (Davenport, Iowa) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
At first, I was a little skeptical...do you really need an entire book to explain a service that lets you micro-blog in 140 characters or less?
If you want to get the "most" out of your Twitter experience--especially if you are using Twitter for your business or for marketing purposes--then the answer is "yes". Tim O'Reilly and Sarah Milstein have created a book that's as visually pleasing and easy-to-read as it is helpful. It takes only an hour or so to read, but to get the most out of it you'll want to sit down at your computer and try out some of their tips.
If you're just curious about Twitter as a social phenomena, then this probably isn't the right book. It's more geared towards users than towards cultural anthropologists.
Wish I'd Thought Of It June 24, 2009 E. Peck (Orlando, FL) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This book on twitter, done in the style of twitter is one of those genius moves that seem so obvious in retrospect. This little book is jam packed with great tips and advice, all packaged in a way that not only reinforces what is great about twitter but teaches through its own format. This really is the only way to do about about how to use twitter.
Analysis of just why twitter works, the ramifications of the service on society, etc. would best be served by a longer, more traditional format. But to teach how to dive in and get the most out of microblogging - this is great. And while twitter is the dominant microblogging platform out there right now, this book is a fantastic resource for users of identi.ca or any other microblogging software.
A must-read for Twitter newbies and "old-timers" alike June 20, 2009 Manny Hernandez (Bay Area, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been using Twitter for almost three years. I have seen its growth and recent widespread adoption, in spite of Twitter's slightly unwelcoming environment towards new adopters. Until today...
Twitter should PAY O'Reilly and Milstein for having written "The Twitter Book." This is, in less than 140 characters, "the best Twitter book you can find whether you are a new user or a Twitter veteran."
The book is LOADED with definitions, tips and tricks to make your Twitter experience a productive one: from explaining what hashtags are (those seemingly cryptic word preceeded by a # sign meant to help Twitter users follow events and topics) to introducing you to a myriad (well not that many, but certainly a bunch) of resources to enhance your use of Twitter.
Even if you have used Twitter for a while and have hundreds (even thousands) of followers, you are bound to find useful information in the book and realize you may have been doing something (or not doing something) that has been negatively affecting your Twitter experience to some degree.
All in all, The Twitter Book is a must-read for Twitter newbies and "old-timers" alike.
