review Missing Manual for Photoshop Elements February 19, 2009 Dee 23 out of 28 found this review helpful
There must be better books around to learn Photoshop Elements. The pictures are HORRIBLE. There's a ton of information, but doesn't make learning the program any easier- ie, "you can fix an amazing array of problems simply by adjusting the level of each color channel".. great, but HOW do I do this? It never really tells you how to do anything. It just drones on and on about how great everything is. I took another book out of the library that told WHY you might want to do certain things, and tried to use the Missing Manual to bring me step by step through the processes to get the saught after result--- no luck. I've read the book cover to cover and I still don't know as much as I need to to really get going with any skill. I think I have to take a class to learn what I want to be able to acheive with Elements, this book stinks.
Much better than the official manual February 16, 2009 Stephen S. Kamin (Cedar Grove, NJ United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a clearly written and practical introduction to Photoshop Elements. It rewards both browsing and reading front to back for the various tidbits you can pick up. The on-line manual that comes with Photoshop Elements 7 is hard to navigate and does a poor job of explaining how to do things, so a supplementary book such as this is essential, and this one does a very good job.
Photoshop Elements 7 Review February 14, 2009 Mary Jones (Tennessee) 4 out of 21 found this review helpful
Previously I had only used Photodeluxe. Photoshop Elements 7 is considerable much more difficult to understand. One must plan on a lot of more study to understand this program. So far I have not had the time to do it justice and I wonder if I ever will. There are a few things I don't like about it.
a) The straightening device is not easy to understand. Picasa 3 straightening device is much easier to use.
b) The clone or blemish stick is not nearly as good as the old Photodeluxe.
I DO LIKE the cropping system where it automatically goes to right ratio. That is as far as I've got. MEMorrison
Good reference February 8, 2009 S. Woolley (Reno, NV USA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I needed this book to get started using Photoshop Elements 7. I will continue to use it in the future as I work to improve my photos. It offers a wealth of info. that is fairly easily understood by even a beginner who has never used Photoshop Elements.
A Must Have for Elements Users February 2, 2009 RobbieP (Tucson AZ) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a wonderful book. It has answered all the the questions that come up in Photoshop Elements and are not listed in Adobe's help page. It is easy to read and understand, written in plain english.
