There are several indications that this book is #1 at Amazon because the author is buying copies. Book was at 6000 sales rank yesterday and jumps to #1 in a day. Run some Google searches for the book. No reviews, no discussion on web, no media coverage, and bam book jumps to #1. Seems suspicious to me.
If the ideas in the book make so much money why would he give them away? Google his name and read the article in Fortune that tells how he lost all his money. This is just another get rich quick book. Get rich slow by working and not throwing your money away on this book.

Does anyone find it odd that every review (save one) was written on the same day (June 2nd 2009)? This usually suggests a collaborative effort from a specific group of people working to hype the book up.
His story and marketing is manipulative as he was only a BILLIONAIRE ON PAPER. HE NEVER ACTUALLY HAD THE MONEY, IT WAS JUST IN THE VALUE OF HIS COMPANY.
Yes, he went to the Fortune 400 list, only to lose all of his money and go bankrupt shortly after. If this guy was such a savvy businessman, HOW DID HE LOSE A BILLION DOLLARS?
Its not like he has a story of Trump who went from 900+million in the hole back to Billionaire. He is now having to use his story and motivational speaking skills just to get his wealth back.
If you google Bill and his history, you will find the story of an egomaniac who appears to feel empowered by his wealth and nothing else. That is how he defines himself.

The book may be useful if you plan on calling people to collect on bad debts, but following this person as a motivational speaker? A quick review of his past and character would likely change your mind.

They all laughed when he said he was going to dig himself out of bankruptcy and become rich by buying up other peoples bad debt. But their laughter turned to envy when Bill Bartmann's face appeared on the cover of Inc. Magazine as one of America's wealthiest men. It was the craziest scheme I had ever heard of, and that's exactly what got my attention.
I first met Bill Bartmann when I interviewed him for a book I was writing. I didn't know what to expect as I sat in his waiting room, high atop his 55 story office building. Maybe I pictured a kinda sleazy, high-finance Wall Street type. After all, he was in the debt collection business, and the people I talked to said he was making money "hand over fist." Or maybe I thought he would be one of those stuffy, pinstriped, look-down-their-nose-at-you banker types. I honestly can remember what I was thinking, but I can tell you this: whatever I pictured? Well, it sure wasn't what I got.
Have you ever met a stranger and felt as if you've known him all of your life? There's just something so "real" about Bill. Maybe it's his sincerity, which reveals itself in his quiet smile, or his strength of character and integrity which has stood strongly against hurricane force envy and jealousy, or perhaps it's just Bill's intractable, bull-headed determinism. (I once knew a stubborn ol' mule that would have bowed with respect in his presence.) Whatever that special quality is, all I can say is that it makes Bill the kind of person that you feel you should trust.

Bill Bartmann's story alone is worth the purchase of this book given the
destitution he came from. But that's not where he ends it. He gives a practical approach to take advantage of a current economic climate so you can create your own financial freedom, and finally benefit from what is happening right now.
His experience is your opportunity. If you want to make money, follow the steps that a billionaire made and I'm certain you'll have recouped this investment and much, much more.

Bill Bartmann lays it all out for you in Bailout Riches. His writing style is awesome, engaging, and inspiring. You are drawn in to what is going on financially and how to crack the code to make it work for you.
Simply put, a must read for anyone who wants to survive the economic downturn and put their personal economy into overdrive.
