not for dimon fans May 19, 2009 srinimax (Richmond, VA, United States) 7 out of 12 found this review helpful
if you're a dimon fan like i am you feel you could've written the book yourself. there's not much new in terms of insights or reporting. all the quotes are from past videos and articles easily available online and the writer doesnt really offer a compelling view into how dimon developed from bank one ceo into jpmc ceo. if you want a great read on dimon - go for tearing down the walls by monica langley. granted its a book about sandy weill but it offers a great perspective on dimon - compelling inside stories only a great reporter can unearth and an intelligent balanced view, not a "fan from a distance" that unfortunately patricia crisafulli comes across as. langley's book only goes till jamie becomes bank one ceo. so i'm still waiting for a good book to cover dimon's story till the wamu acquisition, crisafulli's book doesnt do the job.
Very informative May 11, 2009 R. Green 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
The book was delivered in record time. I have not finished all of the book as of yet, but so far, I find it very informative and good reading.
House of Dimon May 11, 2009 Bjacken (Towson, MD) 5 out of 11 found this review helpful
As a former JPMorgan Chase employee, I am familiar with Jamie Dimon and his business concepts. This book offered no additional information and barely scratched the surface of Jamie Dimon's rise to the top of the financial world. In addition, there were a couple of themes that the author felt needed to be repeated so many times that it became extremely annoying. I generally share books that I have read with other individuals, but I couldn't bring myself to passing this one on to anyone else.
A book for the future May 9, 2009 Trader Shrink (NYC) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Crisafulli interviewed Dimon himself as well as all of the JPM board members to write this book. She meticously documents it with quotes from speeches as early as 2002. The reference section is well-notated.
I haven't even finished it yet and I have a new view on 2008 - even though I myself can be considered a bit of a "Wall Street Insider". Dimon's demeanor and exceptional approach, which is actually legendary already despite his young age, comes through.
This book could be titled "What To Do Right - on Wall Street & Main Street".
A Lesson in Leadership and Passion May 8, 2009 M. Carruthers (Northern California) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Crisafulli artfully offers an insider's view of an icon at a timely juncture. At this point in our history, it is so critical to be able to point to an individual who is a true leader. One who pays attention to the long term rather than the short term (as her memorial to her father so aptly states); is passionate about doing the right things; subscribes to the "fortress" balance sheet and gives us hope for the future. This view of a titan of the finacial world is well written and instructive. A "must read" for everyone in the C suite!
