5 out of 5 stars the best, by far   July 1, 2007

I would pick this guide over any others because it gives you what you need without too much info. Princeton Review is also good, but there's too many paragraphs so i kind of lost attention. Cliffs is nice because it has bulleted lists, visual displays, and practice tests to mix it up a bit. The only thing is that I wouldn't use this book as a replacement to a textbook. if you blow off the entire year, this won't explain it enough to you. But if you are a good student, the best thing to do is read the chapters in the guide that correspond to your textbook during the school year and take the practice test right before the AP exam. (That's what I did, I got a 5). Just remember that nothing good comes easily (for most people..)

I never paid attention in my bio class, never even opened the testbook, and did the bare minimum wen it came to Homework.... so you think i would fail right? WRONG I got this book in mid september 2006 + used it to pretty much teach myself the course! And i got a B in the class + i was FULLY prepared for my AP Exam about a month ago! Buy this book + a notebook and just take notes on every chapter + do whatever you gotta do to learn the stuff + i gaurantee not only will u do well in ur class but u will get a 3 or better come the AP EXam... Dont waste a single cent of your money on princeton review, barrons, or whatever else... this is what you GOTTA HAVE!!!

Read it, and get a 5. Make sure you take time to flip through more than once, and take the practice test. The ap test is very easy, a lot easier than any tests you will find in prep books. Don't waste time studying for aps, unless you had a substandard class.

Here is what I know:
-I bought this book bc i compared all the Amazon reviews for AP bio books and this one had the best
-I read it in the week leading up to the test (although i think towards the end i was skimming most of the time and i didnt read the labs)
-i basically know nothing about bio and my teacher was an idiot
-i seriously though that i would be really really lucky to get a 4 (i acctually asked my dad if he would be mad if i didnt pass)
-i got a 5

The book is nicely made. It separates everything into small units and tries to cover as much as it can.

However, it falls short. The Chemistry, Photosynthesis, Mitosis/Meiosis reviews are nice. But the genetics area is too simplistic. It doesn't cover enough or go into enough detail. You're going to have to study that section by yourself.

Other than that, it does cover a lot, but since genetics is a large part of the exam, it just doesn't cut it.
