This lady certainly knows her math. I found the book very interesting and easy to comprehend.

As a Mom of two aspiring girls this book was well worth EVERY penny. Consider it an investment in your girls math education. Heck, even consider it an investment in America. We need STRONG math skills for all students in this country. We are so excited that she has a second book that we are going to buy that one too! It teaches Pre-Algebra. All my kids are excited. Can you believe that? They are excited now over math! Thank you Danica for such a great book on Math that kids understand and LOVE!

I ordered this book for my daughter and so far, she has really enjoyed it. Her math grade needed much improvement and she has been able to bring it up with the assistance of Danica's book!

I bought this book for my 11 yr. old daughter(as well as myself) a few weeks ago and it has already helped her with her math homework! She wasn't getting the correct answer to a math problem that involved dividing fractions. I thought I knew how to do this but wasn't 100% sure so I consulted this book. It turned out that I remembered correctly but it was great to have this book on hand to be certain. The way things are explained in this book is wonderful. It is so well written. It does not read like a text book; it's actually an enjoyable read. Everything is explained very plainly and clearly and in a way that girls can relate to. You don't have to read it cover to cover either, you can skip around which is a great thing when using it as a homework aid. My daughter does not struggle at all with math but she just doesn't like it. I'm hoping that, after she reads this book, she'll realize math really isn't boring and is actually quite fun.

5 out of 5 stars Surprisingly, this is an excellent book!   March 12, 2009

The flirty picture on the cover and the cutesy title put me off initially (and yes, I must admit that I didn't believe a young actress could write a math book), but I eventually bought the book for some tips on how to teach math to middle-schoolers. And surprise, surprise, this book is very, very good for that. It really is written for young teenage girls, but since I know my girls won't buy a math book, it's also good for their teacher. Despite being a math whiz, Ms. McKellar is able to explain simply and succinctly, and give tips that students can use even if they don't understand how it works. Ms. McKellar's purpose is not to dissect every step, but rather to present useful shortcuts that students can memorize and apply, whether they understand why or not. Of course, I'd rather have my students understand math, but some students have to do before they know, and Ms. KcKellar's methods really work for them.
And yes, it works for boys, too.
