insightful and informative April 22, 1998 Oprah was right- "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" is fabulous! This book brought peace and tranquility back to my household! Thanks to Dr. Weissbluth, my child now sleeps through the night, and I finally have time to relax and spend time with my husband (and on myself). This book is full of helpful insights for parents. Good sleep habits are hard to teach, but Dr. Weissbluth's clear instructions make it much easier to inculcate good habits early. Dr. Weissbluth's sound advice is supported by his years of experience as a pediatrician and pediatric sleep disorders specialist. I have passed this book along to several friends who have similar rave reviews--this book is a MUST READ for all parents!
Excellent. Guaranteed to put every new Parent at ease! April 15, 1998 What a sigh of relief! Now I know why my baby does what she does. Started training her at 6 weeks, not hard core, but slowly as the book suggested. By 8 weeks she goes down easily. I understand her sleep patterns and needs. The book clearly highlights tips and what's normal versus abnormal. A MUST READ FOR EVERY PARENT!
Essential Reading for Every New Parent February 27, 1998 This is the single most useful parenting book I've read - and I've read dozens. My husband and I used the sleep techniques presented with both our children (now 4 and 2). As a result, they are great sleepers. It was really difficult letting them "cry it out", but in both cases, it literally only took one night before they were sleeping for 8-10 hours without adult intervention. That makes us much happier and patient parents during the day. This book makes a great baby shower gift.
It Worked for Me January 20, 1998 I discovered this book when my daughter was 3 months old, and started using the techniques described. My daughter is now nearly 3 years old, and she has superb sleeping and self-soothing habits. I would recommend this book to all new parents.
Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Parents September 24, 1997 burtbailey@aol.com Diane Bailey (Bellaire, Texas) Learn to instill good sleep habits in your child before a problem develops. Dr. Weissbluth explains the value of nighttime sleep and naps to your child's development and behavior, then provides a guide from week one to the adolescent years. If you follow Dr. Weissbluth's advice early on, proper sleep and napping habits will settle in before the age of four months. Followed properly, your child will never be forced to "cry it out" since you will learn to recognize and respect the signs of fatigue before your child is overtired. If your child seems fussy or wild, read this book now! Sleep deprivation is a torturer's technique--don't let it be a parenting practice. You'll be happy to discover the delight a well-rested child brings!
