I loved it. October 14, 2009 Stacey Brewster (raceland , la) 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
I know alot of people wrote that they didn't care for her writing on this book, but i still loved the book. Yes the book went a little off but the characters were still there and I really enjoyed reading the book. Just wanting on the next one to be delivered. Just a note...Dont use the USPS for deliverly. My book shipped on the 6th of October, it's the 14th I still have not got my book. The USPS does not track like UPS or FEDEX so I can not see where it is. I'll write about that book when I finish. Just hope it is as good as the rest.
Finally; something to sink your teeth into! October 13, 2009 kazza (Pittsburgh, PA United States) 6 out of 11 found this review helpful
I can't believe all of the negative reviews for this book. I've read them all, too, folks, and I just have to say that the darkness of the plot in this book was refreshing after the same-old-same-old over the last few. This was a pivotal book in the series; it wrapped up the mystery behind the fairies, got rid of a few nasties and left us puzzled over Sookie's "new" relationship with Eric and unfinished business with Bill. It actually got me excited about the series again after all of the "Tru Blood" hype. I would continue reading no matter what, but I am really looking forward to the next one...Sookie will bounce back, for sure, but I think that Charlaine Harris is planning some new roads for her to travel, which I am all for!
Fantastic quick read leave you longing for more. October 11, 2009 J. Fletcher (Small town,IL) 2 out of 7 found this review helpful
I just finished this book. This is the first time in my 32 years that I have read a whole series of books. I believe I did so in record time too. If you are a fan of the television series, then you must read the books. I can't honestly say which one I love more. They are both addicting and the books move as quickly as the series.
Dead and Gone is a winner! October 11, 2009 Lindsay Pasch (Virginia Beach, VA USA) 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
This book was awesome, and totally action packed. Charlaine Harris does a great job in all of her books of having something always going on, and keeping the readers on their toes. She's one of the few authors who manages to surprise me! I definitely enjoyed the book.
I will say I was surprised by the number of deaths in this book. I mean, there's a lot in every book, but typically obscure characters, and not ones who are very close to Sookie (the main character). Charlaine Harris makes her readers crazy by leaving a million and one loose ends at the end of her books. Most from the previous book are answered in the next one, so I'm sure all will be answered in book 10... however it'll be a while until it comes out. I hate waiting! I have a million and one unanswered questions, and that seems to be the general vibe from all the fans I've talked with in discussion boards.
I do recommend these books though... there's a lot of mystery in them, and they're fun in the sense that they deviate from the norm (Well, my norm at least). The series is all about vampires, wereanimals, witches, etc. Very interesting stuff. If you haven't read this series, and happen to go to the library or bookstore, pick up the first book, Dead Until Dark (It's only like, $6 in paperback). If you're anything like me, you'll be unable to put it down and be back looking for book 2 with a day or two!
Dead and Great! One of the best in the series. October 10, 2009 TCT (Maryland) 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
I just finished reading this book overnight. No sleep. I could not stop. The book is great. After the negative reviews, I was expecting the worst. Loved the book. Finally Ms. Harris brought back Sookie's love interest and she appears to have made a decision about who to be with. I really hated that the previous book barely touch the relationship subject. I am like most, I had moved from Team Bill to Team Eric. But after this book I seem to have a soft spot for Bill again. But I cannot wait for book #10 and I hope that Sookie stays with her "love interest" decision from this book. I will not reveal who it is. I also like that this book seems to have resolved a lot of open questions. I am sad about lost characters, but I guess to keep plot moving you must eliminate certain characters at times. I also hope that since this is fiction, all is not lost for certain characters. I also like the show True Blood, but the TV series and the books are far different and I can appreciate each individually. I will continue to be a fan of both. I must say as a Twilight Fan, I love the Sookie Stackhouse series far better. And maybe because it is geared towards adults.
