Another awsome book May 5, 2009 Hannah Poirier (St.Lucie, Florida) 1 out of 6 found this review helpful
Does Harris know how to write a book or what? Dead and gone is definitely one of my favorites and i totally love Harris's humor. She had me giggling throughout and some suprises that kept me wondering and momments that made me sad but excited for the next book.Im so sad i finished it in just a few hours when i have so long to wait but knowing harris its worth it.
worth the wait May 5, 2009 Bridget Mchugh (Jacksonville, FL) 9 out of 19 found this review helpful
I'm always impressed how much realism Harris manages to pack into an urban fantasy novel. The little details about small town life, working in a bar, makes the characters seems realer. At the same time I;m reminded of why I love Sookie in the first place. It's not really her mind-reading ability that makes her special, it's her determination to always do what's right. Charlaine also finally fleshes out some of her characters like Eric and Niall. Harris's books always creates backstories that explain their characters' personality, like how being ostracized throughout her childhood makes her desperate for friends. Now that I know some of the backstory on Eric, I'm starting to see how that shaped his personality as well.
I read this book in a few hours. I downloaded it at midnight CST then never went to bed. It feels more action packed than the previous installments, and is more similar to the murder mystery format of the first four books. There are also other storylines that result in action scenes and a trauma that Sookie will probably never recover from.
I have one minor crticism though. There are an awful lot of pregnant women in this book.
Ms. Harris does it again! May 5, 2009 J.L.J.M. 2 out of 9 found this review helpful
Another very enjoyable read from Ms. Harris. Very entertaining story, just disappointed that I need to wait a year to see what happens next!
So sad it's over! May 5, 2009 Andrea L. Bulger 3 out of 9 found this review helpful
I Love Charlaine Harris! All of her books are amazing...but I love Sookie and Dead and Gone was such a fun and action packed book. I felt like I finished it in an hour. I actually received an early copy of the book and tried to pace myself so I wouldn't finish it so fast...that didn't work. Anyway I love this series and am so sad that I have to wait for the next book. You are amazing Mrs. Harris keep it up!
BOOK WAS AMAZING May 5, 2009 Zointrikca Wyatt 3 out of 9 found this review helpful
Charlaine Harris has once again found her stride with this book. Unlike the previous two books this story flowed flawlessly. From start to finish it was entertaining and engrossing. I loved it. Definately my favourite in the last 5 books published.
In addition to Sookie's adverntures, it seems she has come to an understanding in her personal relationships as well.
What can I say, after months of waiting this book really hit the spot and was definately worth the wait.
What's made me give this book a 4 star instead of 5 was the price. I bought an ebook for $20.95, I think that is robbery and makes me understand why people download illegally. The price made me so mad I was almost tempted to wait for the price to drop down. $20.95 for an EBOOK! AMAZING!
