Good diet plan with evidence for why it works August 7, 1998 tinajah@leland.stanford.edu (Stanford, CA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've always been skeptical of fad diets, especially since I come from a scientific background. However, Dr. D'Adamo not only carefully explains the blood type antigen/antibody reaction to different food types, he also goes into great detail about why individual types of food are good or bad. There's no way I would've been able to give up wheat and dairy products (I'm type O) w/out such compelling Biological evidence about how they effect my digestion and overall health. And even if his claims are not 100% correct (there's very little doubt in my mind), I'm still eating healthier, having fewer digestive upsets and feeling better about myself in general since adhering to his regimen.
The book truly works August 6, 1998 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I originally picked up the book while waiting for someone at a bookstore. What I found inside was so well thought out and so common sensical, that I immediately purchased it. I am blood type A, so I had the hardest diet adjustment to make, but in the 4 weeks since doing so, I have lost 15 pounds and have never felt more rested, energetic or happy. It has worked for me and I know it would work for anyone truly interested in a better life. The principles are easy to understand and follow. It's well worth the investment of self.
A good example of a fad diet August 5, 1998 7 out of 13 found this review helpful
As a person who has a bachelor of science degree in Nutrition, I am offended by the idea that this book is a bestseller. The premise of this diet is totally unfounded, and complete nonsense. There is no scientific evidence that different blood types affect the foods you should eat, and in fact, to be a healthy individual, a person should include a variety of different foods, not restrict their food choices. This book is a good example of a fad diet, and in my opinion, readers should proceed with caution.
Excellent Nutrition Program August 4, 1998 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the only integrated food selection guide that is based on a rational, scientific theory. I would have given it five stars but the text could have been edited and spritzed up a lttle better.
It gave me new insight about my struggle with my weight. August 4, 1998 jelloman@epix.net (USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been reading about dieting and health for a s long as I can remember. This is the first time that a book on dieting has ever matched all of my particular health conditions and personality. It is logical and make sense to me. It has given me new hope for a dietary change that works for me.I have just come off of two years on the Atkins diet. I felt better on the high protein low carbohydrate diet, but didn't lose weight on it. I realize now that it was the elimination of wheat and refined sugar that made me feel good, not the meat and cheese that I was eating. I have a caronary artery desease which is presently giving me trouble. The ER4YT diet more closely fits the diet that my cardiologist recommends. I started your diet just one week ago with a renewed enthusiasm for better health. I will let you know later how it turns out for me. I am very optimistic this time.
