clear, consise, easy to read and interesting. August 23, 1998 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is based on years of research. I like the fact that the author tells you when his information is based soley on his experience. Very informative. Although the subject matter may sound a bit dry to some, it is written so well that one does not want to put it down. Also, a wonderful reference book. Jennifer Cecere c3187@sinclair.net
Utter nonsense August 10, 1998 12 out of 20 found this review helpful
I knew this book was a load of bull when I looked at the list of foods to avoid and foods recommended for my blood type (A+). At one time in my life, in a misguided effort to reduce below the weight Nature intended me to be, I tried all the current fad diets, and the high-carb, low-protein diet was a disaster: I felt weak all the time and had no energy. (To be fair, the high-protein, no-carb diet was just as bad!) I concluded, finally, that I was healthiest when I ate a balanced diet, exercised regularly, and accepted the shape that I was born with. But nobody wants to believe that: we're looking for the "magic pill" that will transform us all into hunks or supermodels, and anyone who writes a book purporting to be that magic pill is almost guaranteed to have a best-seller. As for all the readers who think this book is wonderful, my years of dieting experience have led me to the following conclusions: (1) Any fad diet will work for anyone for a while. (2) Any fad diet will work permanently for SOME people. (3) No fad diet will work permanently for everyone. I'd like to talk to those enthusiasts 5 years from now, and see how many of them are still following the "blood type" diet and how well it's working; my guess would be about 5% for both questions.
Finally, a natural medicince book whose suggestions really w August 8, 1998 Very well written given the complex topic - very interesting, especially the first few chapters.Based on good science - the Theory of Natural Selection. Details how intricate and significant our interaction with the environment is at our most intimate level - eating. Gives new and quantifiable meaning to the age old saying "you are what you eat".
This book can help everyone. August 8, 1998 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
After reading the book in May, I started the "diet" immediately. As of this writing I have lost approximately 20 lbs., have had an increase in energy, decrease in allergy symptoms, and feel better than I have in years. Anyone looking to improve they way they feel, without having to go through the torture of fad diets, would do well to read the book and give it a try.
