My husband loves it December 12, 2007 keeley Brooks (Franklin, TN USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Richard Scarry's What Do People Do All Day
I bought this book reluctantly as it was a bit out of my price range. However, according to Sonlight's preschool list I needed it. I tend to pick and choose between the Sonlight books anyway...but I took the plunge and bought this one.
When I received it I admit I was disappointed - not in the book itself, but in that it was too old for my son. Sonlight recommends it for a 2-3 year old. Hmmmm. It's more appropriate for a 4-5 year old if you ask me.
So it was just sitting on the table....and then my husband walked by. Oh my GOSH! I can't remember the last time I've seen him so animated about a book! He grabbed it "I had this when I was a child!" he declared in thrilled tones, "I LOVED it! It's BRILLIANT! I would spend HOURS looking at the way all the things worked."
He then proceeded to thumb through the book; it brought back many many happy memories for him. =)
So my point is...my 2 year old is thoroughly uninterested in it, but in another couple of years I'll be very surprised if he doesn't adore this book as much as my husband does. =D
One of the best children's authors November 24, 2007 D. Mcphee (Plam Coast, FL) I was seaching for educational books for my best friend's kids for Christmas and thought about the Richard Scarry books I had as a child. This book along with Cars and Trucks and Things that Go kept me and my brother entertained for hours. We read these books over and over dozen of times. The illustrations are awesome. Great book for kids!
Why do they keep cutting it down? October 27, 2007 brycen (Cambridge, MA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Each new edition has less pages, less original content. Why? It's a classic, let's have access to the real full version with all the stories.
A favorite of mine October 10, 2007 George J. Brewster (Reno, NV USA) When I was little, this was one of my favorite books. I recently purchased this for my cousin's little boy.
Great Mix of Fun & Knowledge September 25, 2007 Sally H Taylor This book is a plethora of adventure, fun, and knowledge for both young & old. I've been reading this book with my grandson. He loves it and has learned a lot. Actually I am learning some new things too!
I'll say it again that I don't know how in the world I missed his books when my boys were growing up!! I must have been on another planet or something! Glad I got back in time for my grand children!
