Well Worth Its Price August 20, 2001 Steven R. Allen (Salt Lake City, UT) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
The person who thinks the price of this book is insanity is obviously not a medical professional. Compared to the usual price of a medical text with color illustrations, its a steal. This outstanding atlas belongs in every office that provides healthcare to children. I've used it continuously since the first edition came out when I was in pediatric residency training a dozen years ago.
Excellent for medical residents/MDs August 19, 2001 drK (Ann Arbor, MI United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
If you are in the medical profession and looking for a great pediatrics reference atlas, this is it. The photos are incredibly helpful in showing common and less common ailments, and after spending some time studying the atlas at random, I have later been able to make diagnoses because I had seen something similar in this atlas. Extremely user-friendly, and fascinating just to browse. Less useful if you're looking for a specific book on dermatology as that comprises just a portion of this book. This was the top book on my "wish list" when I started looking for medical books.
A Must for every advanced paediatric trainee! July 29, 2000 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
An extremely useful book which mentions all relevant facts while holding the readers attention with excellent illustrations of physical signs in children.
A great visual catalog of pediatric pearls April 23, 2000 Evan K. Yeung (Cincinnati, OH United States) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
A number of my colleagues told me that they used this book almost exclusively to study for the Pediatric Boards. While I'm not sure I would use this as my sole source, there is no doubt that this book is excellent. Although the text is not quite as comprehensive as a major textbook of medicine (like Nelson's, or Oski's), it is very concise and readable. Its major strength is the number and quality of photographs depicting important clinical signs and symptoms, from the common (eczema, tinea capitis), to the rare (incontinentia pigmenti, Williams syndrome, etc.) When I entered my pediatric residency, many of the senior residents told me that this book was highly recommended. They were not mistaken. I recommend this book highly...
No Pediatrician or resident should be without this book September 2, 1998 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
