What's Not to Like About This Book ? November 9, 2009 A Southern Reader (New Orleans, LA United States) What's not to like about this book. I mean, it is very well written and has one of the better crafted mystery stories that I have come across. The characters, especially the title character, are well developed and memorable. There are a couple of incidents of violence you won't soon forget and the comeuppance that one of the bad guys receives is unforgetable. Others have described it as a page turner. I agree.
Well-crafted thiller from Stieg Larsson November 7, 2009 Christopher Kell (New York) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson is a complex and well-written thriller and crime detection novel rolled into one. The characters are compelling and hold your interest through almost 600 pages of translated text. The one drawback is that some people will have difficulties with the somewhat graphic violence depicted upon people and property.
Sad commentary on the literary trash that excites people today November 6, 2009 I feel sorry for you... 5 out of 11 found this review helpful
Couldn't finish this one. After reading about the brutality toward the poor girl, I stopped and left the book in a hotel room far from home. I feel sorry for the author who seems to know too much about how to violate women (should be interesting to find out why) and the readers who gave such glowing reviews. Does assault and victomization really entertain those sad souls? Whatever happened to nurturing and protecting people? Larsson, you should be ashamed to write such trash.
sucked me i n! November 6, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
story started out slow. was not sure i wanted to co nti nue after the first 20 pages. glad i did. the characters were very real and i could picture them in my minds eye. before long i was totally immersed in the story. i have already bought the girl who played with fire. plan to read it right away.
Loved it November 5, 2009 Ella72 (NY, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I don't usally read murder mysteries, but I very much enjoyed reading this one. The only thing is in the beginning he throws so many names at you and they are Swedish names so that was even more difficult to keep track of. But as the story picks up you get more in to the caracters and really start enjoying the book. I highly recommend the book and don't give up if you get confused with the characters it all eventually falls in to place.
