only half way through.... November 15, 2009 Judy McMahon (Norwich, CT USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
...and not sure if I can finish. This book is tedious and boring. Reads like a newspaper article. Not sure how much more I can stand to learn about the genealogy of the Vanger Family. ugg!
Dynamite thriller November 15, 2009 Blue (Washington, DC United States) Can't say much that hasn't already been said by nearly 600 other reviewers other than this is certainly one of the best mystery stories that I have read in several years. Literally two excellent tales in one. Reading "The Girl with Dragon Tattoo" ensures that you will read anything that the late and lamented Stieg Larsson has written. His death was a great loss to mystery writing.
Very highly recommended.
The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo November 13, 2009 Jerome Curreri Once you turn to the first page you're hooked to the very end. Well writen and easy to read. You find yourself feeling every suspensful moment as the caricatures run from chapter to chapter.
Compelling Story! November 13, 2009 Anne E. Esparza (Anaheim, CA) This book is a quilt of interweaving plots that surround Lisbeth Salander & Mikael Blomkvist. Reading Swedish names and places that were unlfamiliar gave it an interest. This is an absolutely fascinating novel and I'm looking forward to reading the next two in the series.
Suspenseful whodunit - what's there not to like? November 13, 2009 Houman Tamaddon (Seattle, WA) This mystery novel translated from Swedish takes place on a small island in Sweden which gives it an exotic feeling. The first 80 pages or so sets up the conflict which some may find slow. Many characters are introduced but a family tree in the beginning of the book makes it easy to follow. The story then picks up and at times becomes too much like a Hollywood movie. For those who enjoy fast paced action, they will not be disappointed. There are also a few subplots which makes the book interesting by giving it more dimensions.
The book is not really fine literature and the writing (or perhaps the translation) is simple. Nevertheless I was very entertained. For pure entertainment (as opposed to education), I highly recommend it.
