5 out of 5 stars The most comprehensive pregnancy book out there!   October 25, 2009
A. Shaneberger (Up North, MI)
I love this book. Week, by week, I can follow along with how me and my baby are changing and developing. Hubby doesn't mind reading it either since the sections are broken into to smaller bits to read. Great book! Highly recommend!

5 out of 5 stars One of the best books for everything you need to know about pregnancy   October 19, 2009
Sue C. (NYC, NY)
The Mayo clinic book is the best in the market. It informs you of everything you need or would like to know regarding your pregnancy. It has an index section to look up symptoms, or concerns and is so informative. It's definitely worth the purchase and on amazon, you get free ship and discounted books so definitely worthwhile!

5 out of 5 stars The only book you need   October 12, 2009
Anthony Esposito
This book gives a far more comprehensive guide to pregnancy than every other book we purchased. It also had more current CDC guidelines pertaining to food consumption guidelines and vaccine recomendations ect. Must have!

5 out of 5 stars Informative without being scary   September 22, 2009
Sabrina O. (Walnut Creek, CA)
I bought three books and this was by far the best. It gives information in a non-scary way. Comparing it to the other books: The What to Expect Book is great as a reference but not good as a weekly read because it is way too alarmist. What to Expect covers about everything as does the Mayo book. The organization is different but I like Mayo's organization a little better. There really isn't anything I could think of to make the Mayo Guide book better. It gives the facts and is worded delicately. The other book we have is the Week By Week book, again alarmist. When you are pregnant you don't want to read...."if you have a miscarriage this week you can tell the sex of the baby" and from another book a friend bought me ..."if the baby dies during childbirth take time to hold your dead baby". I wonder what the heck these authors/editors were thinking when they wrote and ok'ed this stuff. Mayo is the only guide I have found so far that doesn't have any negatively worded information. I recommend to anyone pregnant or trying to get pregnant.

5 out of 5 stars Best pregnancy book for me   September 19, 2009
Ricecat (California)
I'm 7 months into my first time of pregnancy now. I bought several books and borrowed more from the library. I had this book before I got pregnant. At the time, it looked sort of boring. But as things go further, it turns to be the most useful one for me. Maybe it should not be the only book you get for pregnancy, but I'd highly recommend it to anyone.

I particularly like that it has a doctor-like matter-of-fact tone. After reading too many girlish-toned pregnancy books, this book is refreshing and relieving. It is very informative, yet very concise and gives answers quickly. The format is also very easy to use. One major part is pregnancy week by week; another major part is symptoms. (Not like "what to expect", symptoms and questions are mixed with the chapters of "week by week." Then this month you remember you read something somewhere, but couldn't find it. Next month you read something that you already experienced last month.)

I eventually kept this book with "what to expect when you are expecting". I think these two books together basically meets my need.
