Garbage man saves the day! February 28, 2008 Miss Dahl (PA, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
What a gem for boys and girls! My daughter has the whole book memorized and when she wants the book she just yells "Dump it in smash it down drive around the trashy town" It has great repetition and if you do it right its interactive as well! Great find!
Family Favorite January 7, 2008 T. Duffin (Santa Clara, UT) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was a family favorite and a regular check out from the library. When we moved to a new town and the new library didn't have a copy to borrow we bought them one. It's charming.
Excellent rhythm January 7, 2008 Cynthia Hopp (Algonquin, IL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This story not only captures young adults but finds adults singing the rhythm to the refrain. It is a repetitive book that helps little ones understand a text pattern. Also, one of our family member's last name is Gilly.
Cutest book ever! December 17, 2007 S. Moon (Blue Ridge Mountains USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We love to read this book to little ones - we get into it as much as they do! Mr. Gilley is a garbageman and this book is written is such a way that we all get caught up in his day. I always look forward to the sing-songy response of the answer to the question, "is Mr. Gilley done yet?" NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO - giggles all around.
This is a delightful children's book that warms the hearts of anyone who finds it.
a perfect book about garbage for 3-4 year olds November 23, 2007 E. Burke 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a darling book about garbage collection. it is written with a recurring rhyme that becomes fun to chant and say together with the child you are reading to. It is simple and at an easier level than the other two garbage books I purchased. It is illustrated (no photos) and also has two little mice you can track throughout the book. I know one family whose very bright two year old loved this book and kept repeating the rhyme although it had actually been intended for his four year old brother. This book is about garbage and not about recycling. I personally love the book because of the rhyming which is so important for preschoolers.
