A Place To Stand November 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book has given me a 'place to stand' so to speak. As the presidential election has just passed it has grounded me by exemplifying the various stages a person's soul is at by who they support in the election and their reasons for their support of a particular candidate!! No one was 'wrong' or 'stupid' or whatever ... they were at their soul level and no judgement was necessary. This book presents a great model for me in seeing just why I am the way I am and why others are the way they are. In doing that is lays open the road that can lead to a more fulfilling life for me and others.
Excellent! A must read! October 28, 2008 I have read tons of spiritually based books and I would put this one at the top for anyone interested in knowing their own soul. If you are interested in true spiritual growth you will get it with this book.
Somewhat Simplistic October 18, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book was ok. Oprah interviewed the author on her soul series, which was enjoyable and very interesting, hence I ordered the book. If you like lists and categories, and if you're somewhat new to spiritual exploration, you'll probably like this book. However, I was disappointed by some of the simplistic explanations for very profound topics.
For example, the author states (based on what his guides reveal) that the age of the soul is the result of number of lifetimes on earth. Put another way, when our soul begins its incarnations on planet earth, it is young or new; many incarnations imply an older, wiser soul. What isn't explained is the nature of the soul, and what happenned before it incarnated here. Aren't our souls essentially eternal and infinite? Did we choose other experiences that influenced us before coming here? In other words, the implication (from this book) is that our existance only started with our first incarnation on planet earth! Personally, this is an area I would have liked addressed in the book.
Biased and insightful all mixed up together October 16, 2008 It's interesting and worth reading, but I think it invokes a part of us that likes to compare and consider ourselves better or inferior to others. Macleod clearly tried not to be biased and to make it seem as though we are all equals. Is there ever a lack of bias in one's perspective?
INTERESTING October 6, 2008 I enjoyed reading this book it was fun and interesting. It did get a little lengthy toward the end and I found myself loosing interest. all in all it was an enjoyable read since I find things like this very intreguing.
