This is the 2nd SHIELD case I've purchased. This one was for my wife, and I bought it because I was happy with the first one I bought a couple of months prior. This one is holding up much better than the first, a flat black, rubberized case. The finish is coming off that one, making it look like it has a skin condition.
I'll probably buy another to replace the first - and still not spend as much as it would cost to buy ONE at the Apple Store!

I bought this iPhone case 2 months back, after awhile the paint from the back cover started to peel of. Looks good in the beginning but does not last long. If you want a case that last long I won't recommend you to buy this product.

Great case. Light, functional, sturdy. If you are in the habit of dropping your iPhone, I would recommend one of the thick rubber cases. But to avoid stress on your phone while in your pocket, this case is well worth the money to protect against cracking, chipping, etc.

The case is nice looking, feels great, and fits beautifully ... but it's very fragile. The first one I received was already broken on the left hand side, right below the volume control. This is definitely the case's Achilles Heel; the volume cutout leaves a very thin stretch of casing. I received a replacement, yet it broke in the very same place after only 2 months of gentle, never-removed-from-the-phone use. I guess I'll now move on to a different brand...
Nice and slim, but not super protective September 12, 2009

I really like the Shield iPhone case because of how thin and unobtrusive it is. It hardly adds any bulk. The casing however, is recessed around the perimeter of the iPhone screen so if I were to drop my iPhone face flat on the ground, I'm pretty sure the case won't help. The previous case I had could probably protect an iPhone drop at any angle, but it added a good deal of bulk which made a huge difference in my pocket.
All in all, I think this case is great. I dropped my phone once, hitting the corner, and the case did its job just fine.
Oh - but I'm not a huge fan of the circle cut-out on the back that reveals the apple logo. While it's nice to see the logo, it just looks odd.
