bite valve is good for biking October 14, 2009 G. kelley (glen allan, va United States) This bottle works as expected - thought it takes more suction than I would expect for a full draw of water. The compact size fits well in a water cage on the bike and is a good volume for short rides.
The 3 stars is simply because it is hard to be too excited for a water bottle.
Could be better. October 13, 2009 Paul (Milwaukee, WI) I own 4 of these bottles of varying sizes. One of them is the BPA free version. I have never liked the rubber bite valve and have always taken them off right away. There is a rubber flap that covers the air intake hole that prevents water from getting out. The downside to this is it also prevents air from getting out when the bottle is just sitting. When there is cold water in the bottle and it sits at room temperature and warms up, the water expands and leaks out the main valve. A solution is to remove the little rubber flap that covers the air intake hole but this makes it more prone to spilling when the bottle tips over.
Two of the bottles (both older 0.5L) seem to have a small opening and very little water comes out no matter how hard I suck on it. There appears to be two moving rubber parts in the mouthpiece that get stuck easily and no amount of cleaning gets them to work properly.
One bottle (newer BPA free 1L) the mouthpiece turned orange for no particular reason. It doesn't affect the performance, it just makes it look dirty when it isn't. That same bottle the lever to flip up the valve broke off. I have never dropped the bottle, it just broke off from regular use.
This leaves only 1 bottle (older 0.75L) out of 4 that I haven't had any problems with.
I have written to the email on their website about warranty claims and have never even received a response from them.
Overall I love the bottle that works and wish they would all work like they are suppose to.
Great Camelbak Water Bottle October 11, 2009 NCB I definitely recommend these Camelbak water bottles. They come in great colors, extemely durable and are easy to carry around with you. I bought a 16 oz and 24 oz and they are both great. The 16 oz is great for kids or if you need something a little smaller to carry around. The spout is rubber like and I don't have to tilt the bottle in order to get drink because there is a straw so it makes drinking easier. Definitely a winner!
great water bottle October 11, 2009 Wende Benson (NC USA) I love this bottle it is great. I like knowing it is non toxic and it just works very well. You can have it full and lay it down and it doesn't leak at all.
Excellent water bottle for travel and sports! October 11, 2009 D. P. Taylor (East Coast, USA) Wasn't sure I'd like the "bite and sip" straw when I'd read about it, but it's actually very easy to use. And because it is non-drip I feel confident carrying it in a tote with gym gear, etc. I followed the recommendation to also order the insulated bottle carrier and am so glad I did! I fill the bottle about 1/4 full of ice cubes, then cold water. After walking with it for an hour in the hot sun, I still have some ice AND my hands are dry because the carrier keeps the bottle from sweating and transferring heat. It's also easier to hold using the handle (I have a small hand.) The bottle is super easy to fill/clean due to its wide mouth, and the straw flips out of the way so I don't knock it against myself when walking. Oh, it's also lightweight--definitely a plus for my arthritic hands. Very happy with my purchase.
