I got this bag because my last bag was wearing out from a less than a month usage and I needed more space to keep all my books since thats how it is when you are a grad student. The bag is wonderful, almost exactly as promised, though one of the s- straps was bent into something which made me wanna consider an exchange, but then I thought of trying it out and it turned out to be cool. So far, I rank it great..I will edit this, if I am disappointed too soon. This is for those like me who think they need a lot of pockets because they have a lot of separate things to carry. I like to carry my cellphone in my pocket so I use the cellphone compartment as a place for my spects..and it fits snugly..

Only three stars because it is now made with lighter fabric. Otherwise, it would be five stars, based on the others I have owned.
We have had several of these for myself and the kids. We loved them so much that we never even considered buying another brand or style. They got dragged around so much that I recently bought a new one just for looks. It felt lighter in my hand, so I weighed it one day at the post office, and, sure enough, it was 25% lighter. This is through the use of a thinner fabric. If they hadn't put in the lining (which the older ones didn't have) the weight difference would have been a little greater. I can only fear that the lighter and thinner cloth translates to less durability.
I am disappointed that such a good product has been made less durable for a two-bit profit increase.
So far, so good, but, I am holding my breath. I also have some concern about any other cheapening they may have done. I doubt that I will buy another when this last one turns into a rag.
Oh, the new one has a little bottle pouch on one side. A nice improvement.

I bought this for my daughter, who is entering high school. After using an L.L. Bean backpack bfor 3 years, she was extremely happy upon receiving this Jansport backpack.
She liked the color "Shell Tan" much better, which is exactly like the picture. The color combination is great, and the cute pink zipper color continues on the inside. The design is also better: there is an extra pocket near the top for smaller things such as pens and a cellphone, and an side mesh pocket for a water bottle was convenient. The bag looks very small upon arrival, however, when filled it can stretch to almost too big, yet the perfect size. My other daughter has had the exact same backpack model for three years now, and it is going strong still, without much wear and tear.
The bag is very comfortable, stylish, and well-designed according to my daughter. As an added bonus, it's a great deal on amazon! I highly recommend this bag for students in middle or high school and college. Buy it!

I already knew quite a bit about the structure of this backpack because I had the same type last year (Big Student), but it was a different print. I got this one because I love purple and I knew that the Big Student type worked really well. It can hold the weight of all of my books without ripping and it has a water bottle pouch, unlike a lot of backpacks. I would definitely recommend this backpack for school.
