Perfect dimensions June 30, 2008 D. Kim (Saint Louis, MO) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This backpack is great! What I love the most about it is that, while it has a lot of depth for vertical storage, it is not very thick. I had an older, larger Jansport backpack which was nice, but carrying a few notebooks, binders, and a textbook or two felt awkward in such a big space. This certainly isn't for those of you who lug around every textbook you own for a whole day. I can EASILY fit my 15.4" Dell Inspiron Notebook in the main compartment (with a fairly bulky notebook sleeve [Pinder THIN], too!), and there's still room for a couple of textbooks too.
On the color: I was anticipating the "burnt orange" that some reviewers pointed out (as opposed to the design's "barn red" description) and I still like it a lot. The only thing that sort of irks me is the strange combination of black (the zipper grabs and top loop for dragging it around) and brown (the straps and lining)... but that doesn't make it any worse of a backpack.
My con: I wish this bag had individual slots for pens and pencils, but it instead has a 3.5" wide X 6" high pouch next to a 6.5" square velcro-closeable pouch (in the middle compartment). While this is very spacious, I personally do not like things shaking around (assuming you have it in small quantities).
Other potential cons: I haven't really tested for it yet, but overall the material is very smooth and likely durable (as higher-quality backpacks go..), but I would prefer to have some more lining on the bottom of the backpack and also on the side to protect from moisture seepage (from the bottle holder). I occasionally have an icy bottle of water there, and though I don't have anything super-valuable in my bag nor do I think that a lot would get through the material, I'd feel more comfortable knowing that it's thicker and more resistant to leaks. Also, as the middle pouch is very, very deep (and spacious), I can see problems occurring where something will get smashed from the main compartment being at capacity since that pouch goes THAT far down (and sort of under!).
kewl color June 14, 2008 Margaret Hardy (Washington, DC) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Kewl color, a little bigger than I expected, super light wight. the straps are really wide but this make them really comfortable on shoulders and chest. maybe not worth 30$ but worth about 20$-$25
the Bag with the master plan May 22, 2008 Kitty N. so...I got the red backpack knowing it would be burnt orange. And it's such a great color. I love it. There are great deep pockets all about just when you need to find them. People tell me how great my bag is and ask where I got it. There's room enough in this bag for a short weekend trip or to use as a day to day school bag. Fit's my laptop great (although it doesn't have "laptop specific padding" if that's what you're looking for). Just to let you know, if there isn't anything in the bag, or if it's really light (which I wouldn't imagine happening too often), the straps at the back of the neck might be uncomfortable. But this is a total aside since the truth of it is that this bag is awesome!

I like this bag so much I got two. There are enough compartments and room for everything I need for daily and recreational use. The top pocket I keep my usb drives, point & shoot digicam, mini usb cable, mp3 player, etc. The main compartment I keep my laptop and any other papers/documents. The smaller compartment I keep the laptop power supply, cds, network cable, small external hdd, etc. In the bottom pocket I have hand sanitizer, hand lotion, keycard, lip balm, tissues, tylenol, etc.
I've used this bag daily for the past 3 years and it hardly shows signs of wear.
Okay, previous model better May 6, 2008 Neal P. Obrien (CA, USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I wish they wouldnt change good models. my previous model was like a superbreak but also had a large ipod zipper compartment on top where i stored my cell phone, wallet, etc. the old model also had compressions straps for when you're not carrying stuff and a waterbottle slot sort of like the air vital but with a small useful rear pouch. anyway, this one is okay.
