A wonderful ending to a great Adventure January 21, 2010 C . Wolfe (Costa Mesa, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Percy Jackson has been a blast to read over the last 5 books.
The Last Olympian is a teriffic ending to this fantastic Greek mythology series.
Fast paced and thrilling every step of the way.
My 13 year old and 11 year old and I --- all read it over winter break.
This is an enjoyable series of books for all age levels. Don't miss out!
And please read the books before you see the movie, which comes out Feb. 12, 2010.
Also, keep your eyes open for Rick Riodan's new series of books coming out in May 2010.
The next adventures will all have an Egyptian theme.
A suberb series!! January 20, 2010 S. Cogar (Monroe, WA) I am reading this series with my 12 year old and absolutely love them all. Riordan is a great writer and all have been page turners. I especially like the fact that he does not spend half the subsequent books describing what has happened in the previous ones! Every book is something new and magical and exciting!
for class January 19, 2010 Percy Jackson isn't your regular kid. He's the son of Poseidon. Now that the evil titan of time, Kronos prepares to evade Olympus witch floats firmly atop of the empire state building. While the court of Poseidon is under attack. Can Percy and his half blood friends stop Kronos. Can he also fight the curce of his 16th birthday. --Corbin 5th grader
A great finish January 18, 2010 Z. M. (Utah, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Lightening Thief had people of all ages believing in the magic of Greek mythology. Percy Jackson had kids reading like no other book had.
All the books in the series were wonderful. The last Percy Jackson is no exception to the rule.
It was amazing that Percy made us laugh and still was under the stress of being a hero. The ending to the series was intense and funny as Percy comes face to face with Kronos himself.
This book ties in all the characters and helps us understand why things had happened. Luke's past is finally explained, this helps us understand why Luke made the mistakes he did.
This book is perfect for any child and will have them wanting more more.
Celebration of the wonders of Greek mythology January 17, 2010 Backroads (Northern Utah) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
So here's the deal with this book: If I taught a higher grade, I would so assign this as required reading with plenty of theme essays that would probably result in all students despising this book forever. I mean this as a compliment. Rick Riordan has managed to turn popular Greek mythology on its head with this spunky series that gives these timeless tales a humorous wink and nod while still creating an epic tale filled with heart and soul.
"The Last Olympian" is the perfect powerful ending that combines brilliant storytelling, rip-roaring action, and heartfelt emotion.
Kronos is, more or less, ready to take over Olympus and thus the world. Camp Half-Blood isn't safe, home isn't safe, and Percy has a week to fulfill a prophecy (whatever that means). The War hits full-speed here, all tensions are high... I'll just say it's pretty darn intense--an intensity that somehow manages to fulfill all expectations I had.
The story is imaginative, with plenty of intelligence and wit. Riordan knows his mythology and knows how to praise it and make it work for this story.
Fantastic ending to a fantastic series.
