my six year old is loving it... June 26, 2008 My 6 year old really enjoyed the equation building game and the "UNO" type game. I like that you have the option of being timed or not. I purchased the Spelling Challenges and more games as well, but found that being timed can be very discouraging for a 6 year old just starting out with his spelling.
Too hard for kids to grasp instructions (for a change) June 3, 2008 For a change, I had to help my kid figure out how to use this game. It was frustrating. Once we figured it out, I found it entertaining for a brief while, as did my kid, then we both lost interest. The Nintendo DS brain age games have math-type games that are much more fun. This one was obviously produced quickly and with little thought or field testing, just pumped out to have a product. Hope they improve it.
The Game is Good, However... October 21, 2007 28 out of 29 found this review helpful
This game is pretty good for a math game. I'm an adult gamer, and I wanted something to help improve my math skills. This game is actually good for that. My biggest problem with this game is that it freezes. There's one game where you have to position the cards to form an equation. It's good brain exercise, but the game freezes each time I reach the 10th question. At first I thought it was a fluke, but it happens each time I play that particular game. Aside from that annoyance, I have no complaints. Maybe you'll get lucky and get a copy that doesn't freeze.
Limited fun that goes no where... October 11, 2007 33 out of 34 found this review helpful
I am an adult gamer who is not good in math so I thought I'd get this game from Amazon to practice my math.
It is colorful, it reminds me of the card game UNO in it's design. There was one game where you have to create equations by moving the cards around to make the correct equation. It has several levels and skills to pick from. I got to level 10 before the game froze on me. I didn't think much of it. I turned it off and tried again. The same thing happened. I tried another game that is similar to UNO where you have to match the numbers or color of your opponent. Again, the game froze on me.
After about 4 frozen tries, I gave up. I am going to return this game to Amazon as defective. I don't know if it's just my game that's defective or are all the Math Play cartridges defective? I don't think I want to keep it because from what I played in 1/2 hour, the fun was limited. This game isn't something you would play with for hours. I can see where the gamer would get bored after awhile like the previous post said.
What a shame. It could have had potential had they done more to it and make it more fun.
Ok, but boring October 4, 2007 28 out of 31 found this review helpful
I bought this game hoping that the graphics would be great and it would make someone want to learn math. However, the game was boring, and the graphics were lame. For twenty bucks, I guess it was alright, but kids just played it for a total of an hour and went right back to their Mario games. I tried to play it, and found it was very boring. Pity.
