great life changing game July 29, 2010 Judy A. Kline This game is wonderful for those that don't have the time, money, orguts to join a gym. It's like having your own personal trainer in your living room.
The only thing lost here is money! July 1, 2010 kingtuba 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've never written a review before, but this game is so terrible, I just had to try to warn others to stay away! I just received this game yesterday. I used it for about 10 minutes then threw it away. This is a complete waste of money!!! The idea behind the game is good, but the execution is terrible. Problems include:
- needing a ton of room! In order to do plank, side lunges, and triceps dips, you need tons of room all the way around the balance board. If you don't have the room, you'll have to keep repositioning the board something you don't have enough time to do, and if you do have enough time, when you move the board, the game may think you are ready to go.
- constantly needing to move the remote from one pocket to the other...and what if you don't have pockets?
- inaccurate weigh-ins. WiiFit is mostly accurate when weighing in, but the Biggest Loser game shows a different number!!
- need to constantly look at the screen. What others have said about the exercise changing with no notice is exactly correct. It is very difficult to keep up with the game. The Biggest Loser workouts are challenging, but at least with the videos, you have someone talking you through things when you are supposed to me looking down. This problem coupled with the need to move the balance board, and continue to change the remote, makes this game worthless to me. I spent more time moving things around than I did working out.
- the game doesn't tell you what you are doing wrong, and many times will tell you that you are doing well even if you aren't doing anything!! If you aren't doing a motion correctly, the game won't register it...but there is no feedback to tell you what you need to correct, or at least what kind of motion the balance board is looking for.
This game is a work out, but the frustrations associated with it aren't worth it's $50+ cost. STAY AWAY!!! If you really want the Biggest Loser kind of experience, get a video instead. You could get two for the price of this awful game.
Great exercise video June 23, 2010 C. Ronderos (New York, New York United States) I have a couple of other exercise videos for Wii and this one really is the best. You can chose the levels and have different exercises. It really gives you a great workout!
the biggest loser June 23, 2010 Daniel J., Hart (Drums,PA) The captions on the game need to be in larger print. They should show you how to do the routes first before you start to do them. Over all it is a good game
Not quite as inspirational as the show May 11, 2010 Sean T. Mcelwaney (Gambrills, MD United States) The first time that I really sat down and watched the Biggest Loser (BL) it was one of the most inspirational shows I had ever seen. I was out of shape, certainly nowhere near any of the contestants, but not where I'd like to be. I started working out, particularly when watching the show, on an elliptical and with weights. After a few months of working out regularly and eating healthier I was down 40 lbs and back to my college weight and feeling better than I had in years. Was BL the reason for my weight loss, no, diet and exercise were, but BL was definitely the inspiration for it.
Now to the game, I find Bob and Jillian to both be very inspirational in their own ways so the idea of having them on the screen talking to me was very appealing and from that perspective the game is great, the problem lies in the fact that it is just a game and there are a limited number of phrases available (if I have to hear Bob call me "overweight lover" one more time I may go nuts, though it was funny the first few times). The exercises are more or less standard calisthenics that you'd find in almost any exercise video with of a few of Bob's favorites tossed in (i.e. skaters and axe chops). The weigh ins are a great idea to stay with the theme of the show, but they were inconsistent (i.e. losing 1 lb one week you'd win the week and losing 1 lb another week and you'd be below the yellow line). Also, the challenges, though a nice break from the standard workout are far too limited and and the few challenges that there are start to get really old after only a few times.
Overall the game is good, though probably not as good as Wii Fit, and almost any fitness gadget or tool can be either wonderful or completely useless depending on if it actually inspires you to want to work out.
