Like GTA-ish November 24, 2009 D. Lefiti (San Diego, CA USA) Just FYI. Never played part one. PS3 version.
Controls - You just needed to make your adjustments learning on the go. Simple enough. Experiment and it will be easy to play as you continue the game
Graphics - Good enough given how big the environment is. Play on 37' lcd and have no gripes with details. Not expecting myself to be hardcore and want the wood or stone to look real life.
Game Length - Playing off/on; but really trying to get 100% completion of the game. After a week of playing, barely collected 20-30% of objects. Good enough for like $50 I paid for the game. Comparing to the new Ratch & Clank witch I beat in 4-5 days and had about 80% completion.
Small Gripes - (1)I prefer a sneak action or something when assasinating enemy from behind. Just walking up slowly doesn't give it a same effect
(2) Tackle a thief seems buggy. Pressing 'O' near the thief doesn't work all times (Probably try different strategy again later)
(3) I was stealing, hiring distraction groups, reaching viewpoints, etc long before the storyline actually explains how to do it. Figured it out myself as I was doing randomness things. So storyline sort of retro active and takes away the forward progress of the game. Like the 2 steps forward 1 step back analogy.
WOW!!! November 23, 2009 J. Pinkard (TX) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
All I can say is WOW! By far one of the best video game experiences ever. Extremely entertaining and impressive. I can't say much about this game that hasn't been said by other reviewers, but if you own a gaming platform, you owe it to yourself to pick this one up. WOW!!!
It deserves the 5 stars November 22, 2009 J. A. Reyes (NY, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When I buy a game, I look for an experience, and this game delivers with high notes. I have had the pleasure of being in Florence and Venice and when I got this game I was curious of how Ubisoft recreated both cities in the Renaissance, and let me tell you, they put a lot of effort on it and when you are walking on those cities, they look real (I know I have nothing to compare against but the current cities). Yes, the controls are a little bit clumsy, but I really do not know how they can make them better, you have to accept that in an environment with so many things in your surroundings.
If you want a 5 star experience, this game is definitively for you.
Rental, if your desperate... November 21, 2009 elchamber (Chino Hills) 1 out of 6 found this review helpful
Originally I hated the first one, but, after playing this sequel, I miss that weak original.
I gave this game a chance and it pathetically did it again. With an addition tweak by the controls, in that it is horrible. The first one, I didn't complain about it, but this version is so bad that I had to quit the game before I took my frustrations out on my controllers.
It looks better, but it's needs more polish in the graphics department. I don't think it should win any technical achievement awards if overlapping and blending is part of that level of skill.
More new missions to slow you the effing down. Now you can loot and gain money. For what you ask? You can purchase upgrades for your weapons and armor with additional purchases of garments and pouches for carrying medical items. Here is the horrible part, you now can upgrade your uncle's villa and actually make some more money if you keep the repairs and upgrades coming. WFT? I'm an assassin and civil engineer. Sure the money is good, but I should be killing than making the city look good.
I like the whole Renaissance thing and love the option in learning a little bit more on the real people and surrounding in the game. But the creators did it again. They won't let me skip the damn cut-scenes. I finally have some fun and then, they decide to slow me down by making me watch chatter.
I hate this game.
Decent November 21, 2009 W. freeman (fairmont, wv) 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
I was really excited and into the hype of the first game back in 2007, and thought wow this will be a lot like one of my old favorite games Tenchu Stealth Assassins. Well gameplay wise i was wrong, the game which looked great as a movie, and seeing 07 demos played of the game seemed great. But wow how repetitive it became. Much can be said for this game, the repetition isn't quite as bad as the first game, but the cut scenes i find are waaayy to long, which makes it a bit tedious at times. The mechanics are good, i never had a problem with those, the problem i did have in the first that carried over to the second is lag, and frame rate drops. Well i have this for Xbox, but wanted to try it out first as a rental on PS3, the graphics on the 360 were far superior(as the usual crud ports go to PS3)and on the PS3 it just lacked the detailing, and impressive textures the 360 had. Also the frame rate drops i noticed were a lot worse on certain areas on the PS3, also on xbox but not quite as many. So basically its the same ole gameplay, new story, new cities, a few new mechanics here and there, but really nothing that hypes this game up to what people are saying. Maybe i'm just losing my total interest in games overall(i'm 34, not 19) or perhaps some of these games really arent as good as everyone is boasting. I do enjoy the assassination sequences and really like the overall free environment gameplay, but it just really doesnt seem much different than the first. The only game this year that has lived WAY up and past its hype has been Drake Fortunes Honor Among Thieves, talk about amazing, check out the reviews on it. While the PS3 blows everyone away with its exclusives, it always gets the bad ports(graphically, and framerate wise), well this one is no exception. As i said its DECENT, but just wait until next year when its around 30 bucks or so, then get it.(for 360 that is).
