Product Description Studio: Buena Vista Home Video Release Date: 10/06/2009
Amazon.com essential video One of the brightest nuggets from Disney's golden age, this 1937 film is almost dizzying in its meticulous construction of an enchanted world, with scores of major and minor characters (including fauna and fowl), each with a distinct identity. When you watch Snow White's intricate, graceful movements of fingers, arms, and head all in one shot, it is not the technical brilliance of Disney's artists that leaps out at you, but the very spirit of her engaging, girl-woman character. When the wicked queen's poisoned apple turns from killer green to rose red, the effect of knowing something so beautiful can be so terrible is absolutely elemental, so pure it forces one to surrender to the horror of it. Based on the Grimm fairy tale, Snow White is probably the best family film ever to deal, in mythic terms, with the psychological foundation for growing up. It's a crowning achievement and should not be missed. --Tom Keogh Stills from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Click for larger image)

A Classic Strikes Again November 19, 2009 Timothy Lovett (Boston, MA USA) There is little I can really say about this movie besides the differences between it and the older classic we all know and love.
1. The movie has the option of showing paintings on the sides of the film to expand it to widescreen size. I used these and while they looked kind of cool didn't really feel like the biggest improvement to me.
2. The sound and picture quality is good but it's a really old film so you can't really push the level of detail up too much. It performs well given the medium, however.
In general, you likely can makedo with just the DVD. The fact this combo comes with both a DVD and a Bluray disk obviously is hinting that while bluray is likely the wave of the future not much has changed given it can't really.
I'd suggest buying this if you have a bluray player otherwise just considering buying the DVD alone if you can find it.
Good movie, bad shipment November 19, 2009 Beniyen Tesara V (Caracas, Venezuela) I like this movie a lot, it is a great disney presentation, i would prefered in a blu ray boz size, but i feel very dissaponited with amazon.com shipment service, because my specia edition box came several damage, i am from Venezuela, it is very expensieve for to sent my damage item back, amazon.con should be more carefully with this stuff
Superb picture and sound quality November 19, 2009 Nicole T. (Newington, CT) If you are a fan of the Disney Classics, you have to pick up Snow White on Blu-Ray/DVD Combo. They film has been remastered and has never looked or sounded better. We previously had Snow White on VHS and the difference between the two is astounding.
In case you haven't seen Snow White, I have to tell you to beware as it is quite violent. I watched it with my daughter and I was shocked at how much more violent it was than I remembered it. The Wicked Witch orders the hunter to kill Snow White and cut out her heart. There is also a seen in which the hunter is standing behind Snow White with a knife, in position to stab her. So, this may not be the best movie to watch with your little one. You might want to watch it first and fast forward through the scary parts when watching with a child.
Love the DVD/Blu-ray Combo Packs November 19, 2009 E. Byers (San Diego, CA) This film is beautifully restored, and comes out great on the blu-ray. The extras are a nice bonus. I'm really glad that these classics are now being remastered and redone on blu-ray. Even better you get the dvd in it as well, which works great for us because we only have on blu-ray player, so now we can play it all over the place, for the cost of essentially just the blu-ray.
Get this, your kids (and yourself) will get thrown back into the wonderful memories (well your memories) of your own childhood. And if you're a big fan, you have many hours of extras to watch/listen to.
A Classic Film Now On Blu-Ray November 17, 2009 Reid in Florida (Clermont, FL USA) Disney's very first full-length animated feature is now on blu-ray with tons of extras to go along with it. Sound and picture quality are sharp, though because of the aspect ratio it was filmed in you are given the choice to view it with black bars on the side, or artwork reflecting each scene as a sort of frame. A must for any Disney blu-ray collection.
