First things first. The games in this package merit an easy 5 star rating. It loses a star for the install limit nonsense.
So, now that's out of the way.
Crysis is one of those rare experiences in gaming where it's easy to forget you're playing a game. The whole sensory experience draws you in from the start. The controls are simple, flexible, and capable of allowing for an extremely diverse range of maneuvers and combinations of maneuvers. I'm talking some real superhero stuff. For instance, one of my favorite ways to attack is to speed run into a group of enemies, switch to strength mode, grab one of them and throw him into the others, knocking them all down, then whipping out the silenced SCAR to dispatch of any survivors... cloak.. prone.. and no one is any wiser. Of course that's just one way to do it. You can play almost any way you like in the first part of the game. The later levels do limit you to an extent as to what is effective, but going into that would involve spoiling the story, and that is not something I want to do.
The story is not terribly special on paper, but the way it is told is quite fun to participate in. There are some serious jaw dropping moments, and while I wouldn't call the twists "shocking", they are quite effective nonetheless. The final level of the game is so huge in scope that you may be unable to finish it due to being overwhelmed by everything being thrown at you, both plotwise and physically (so to speak).
So.. Crysis is unlike any other game I have played. Crysis Warhead is basically the same type of gameplay in a more condensed version. It's actually more effective in it's story than Crysis, probably because of its short length. It is a tight fun, action filled game, with some really great Wow moments. I don't know what else to say about it. It's like Crysis but different. If you like one, you'll like the other.
I have not played the multiplayer yet, but I imagine it will have a very competitive player base, just because of the advanced maneuvering that the suit allows. I hope so, anyway. I will be disappointed if I go online and don't see total insanity.
Anyway... Crysis by itself is worth this price. This package is a steal. Best money you'll spend.
Damn shame about those stupid install limits.
Plenty of enjoyment for the price... October 2, 2009 Deadhead (Waynesboro, PA) Crysis...opened with the typical first person shooter feel, but with additional, incredible abilities from your nanosuit. At first, it felt awkward changing these abilities and knowing when to use them at the right time. With time, though, using the full capabilities of the suit becomes second nature, and the Korean Peoples Army are at your never ending mercy. I felt certain reservations at the introduction of the alien presence on the island, as it was strange and they were a whole lot more challenging to kill. But you begin to know this enemy, too, and my initial dislike soon gave way to the acceptance of the new challenge. Great game, great graphics, and interesting story and characters. Definite four stars.
Crysis Warhead... the second installment of the Crysis saga, parallels the first story, but you are a different character on a different mission. You are plunged headlong into the action, with the first few chapters being somewhat easy (probably for first time players of Crysis), and progressively escalating in difficulty. I found this game easier to beat than the first one, maybe because I was no longer 'learning', and already had strategies for success. Again, great graphics and storyline. Solid sequel, but I liked the first Crysis better.
Crysis Wars... multiplayer online action. I have only tried it twice, and it is very enjoyable. Your tactics for computer AI will have little to no use in these wars! Fun for all the more I played it.
Conclusion... you get this whole package for the price of a regular current title. Cant beat it. Buy it. You will enjoy it.
more crysis awesomeness! September 25, 2009 Alvaro J. Ojeda this is an awesome game,it has everything, graphics, gameplay, a good history and a great online mode.
and about the DRM well, it is absolutely NOT a reason to avoid the game, it's not a big deal and IT IS FREE to call EA and tell them to renew your license, they ask your CD key and in about 30 minutes you'll be able to install it another 5 more times, then call them again then another 5 more times and so on.
and if you want to get rid of the DRM you can easily download a cracked exe just by tiping on google then you won't even need to insert the disc to play, and have unlimited installs without needing to call anyone.
what a waste no sale secure rom drm September 24, 2009 James Papas (Gold Country California) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
I really want to play this game. It looks great.
Too bad I will not get to play it. I refuse to
have some 3rd party spyware installed on my machine.
I refuse to pay [...]for a game, and not even
be asked if I want to install a 3rd party spyware
program when the game is being installed. This should
be against the law. Wake up and sell us what we want,
not what you want to sell jerks! This is 3 games you did not
sell to me and my friends because of your secure rom.
What A Waste!
