Customer Reviews:
4 out of 5 stars One of the better games based on a movie   November 17, 2009

This was a well made and well thought out game. I help my son when he gets to difficult places. Glad we bought it.

This is a great game. My 7 year old plays the game and has so much fun with it. There are challenging parts that I help him with but there is so much to this game that even if you are stuck in a certain part it does not detract from the game play. The graphics are great and this is one our top pick games.

5 out of 5 stars The Best Game Ever!!   December 25, 2008

This game is great! I bought it for my three sons, and they really like it. Multiplayer seems fun for them, and their cousin. But the story mode is what they like best, especially the Wudang Temple level, where Master Oogway invented kung fu, and where the Gorilla Army plans to destroy the temple.

Hey guess what? This is a great game. And I'm a pretty heavy PC gamer too. I actually had far more fun playing KungFu Panda than I did Stalker or Oblivion. This game's got great fast paced combat. Nice storyline. Graphics were surprisingly good. Voice acting superb. Go play the demo if you want to decide for yourself!

4 out of 5 stars A surprisingly fun game   June 20, 2008

I've played several games that were based on animated movies in the past and those past experiences significantly lowered my expectations for this game. After playing the first few levels I find myself pleasantly surprised.

The controls are easy to pick up and have a very low learning curve. You are going to want to play the game with a controller, as this is a platform game where some jumping puzzles will be quite difficult if only using the keyboard. This game, just like every game sporting the "Games for Windows" label, fully supports the 360 controller and automatically detects and maps the controls for you.

The graphics are also surprisingly good for a PC title. The developers did it right. Lately I've seen many console ports scale back on the graphics, often opting to not provide "next gen" graphics on fears that making the game next gen will raise the system requirements to a point where they are higher than the systems owned the majority of PC gamers. The end result is the PC port having severely dated graphics. Kung Fu Panda gives gamers options. If you have a high-end gaming machine you can take advantage of better, next gen graphics. If you have a low-end system the game is still playable, but with less detail.

If you have any reservations about whether your computer can play the game, there is a demo available that allows you to check your system against the game for free.

The sounds are all great, all dialog is recorded, but all celebrity actors are impersonated. The guy that does the voice of Po (Jack Black in the movie) does a decent job, you can tell it's not really Black, but his voice isn't distractingly bad.

The game is short, and I do have one major gripe. So far I haven't found a way to skip the cinematics. There is one level in particular where the inability to skip a cinematic is quite frustrating. The level is a made up of a series of precise jumps. Miss a jump? You'll have to sit through the cinematic again. It can be quite frustrating when you miss a jump several times and you are treated to a forced re-play of the same 2-3 minute cinematic you've already seen multiple times (thanks to previously missed jumps). The game is easy, so you shouldn't be dying and repeating the cinematics all that often, but this can be especially frustrating for small children that want to play the game. This annoyance could have easily been avoided by either providing a way to skip the cinematic, or creating the save point you revert back to after the cinematic is finished. Oh, well.

A solid game with good graphics. The game is a bit short, but it is worth it. I'd recommend the PC version because the initial price point is considerably lower than it is for the consoles... making sure that your system can handle it on a graphical setting that you want, of course.
