Its like World of Warcraft, but without the $200 a year in subscriptions.

recently added new content and objectives. come to play the game, and stay when you find guildmates that compliment you.
An excellent game, but parents please use discretion! March 31, 2009 Arizona (Rio Verde, Arizona USA) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
Guild Wars has many excellent gaming experiences to offer! You'll definately enjoy the beauty and considerable talent employed to artwork. Landscapes, architechture, beings, & animation are all superb. I'm sure you have heard ArenaNet's got it all in Guild Wars. So I decided to share a concern I have with careing parents.
While the game itself is rightly rated Teen13, the fabulous towns and outposts of guild wars are actually animated chat rooms. ArenaNet has strict rules about conduct...most important is DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION such as real name, phone #, address, banking info., etc. Make sure your child is mature enough to abide by the rules UNCONDITIONALLY!
No one knows your child's capabilities better than you do. They will be meeting, chatting, and making friends with strangers online, as they gain allies to complete quests and missions during the game. Most of the players are helpful and kind. Some few are risque and use suggestive language (even though no foul language is allowed). These can be rude, mean or abusive. ArenaNet is very good at posting guards in game, and you can report misconduct, but there is a risk for immature players. Be sure your child understands that the game is not for meeting a new best friend, boyfriend, or girlfriend, and that they should not ever divulge their own age.
The best thing you can do is audit the game yourself before allowing unchaperoned play. Just grab a seat to watch and listen, because all online games have headset & mike capablities. They encourage great downloads like Teamspeak to facilitate allied forays. That means your child can hear other players, and can be heard, other than typing messages.
Overall, this game can help one develope a sense of comradery and team skills valuable in real life. I think anyone interested in acting would also benefit. There are also great opportunities to better understand self during game play. But this experience must be kept an anonymus arrangement for the personal safety of all players. Make sure your child creates fictitious characters, and understands role-playing.
I heartily recomend this gaming experience to all mature enough to grasp these concepts! Me, personally? I think this is the best game of it's type ever! Can hardly wait for GW2!
Great MMORPG February 26, 2009 Joey A. Ortega 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had been wanting to get in to MMORPG's for a long time, but hated the fact that you had to pay a monthly fee. That is why I was glad to fine Guild Wars. You buy the game and then can play online for free. Each person playing has thier own map downloaded to their computer so there is not a lot of lag tinme. Have had the game for a month and have not had a problem with anyone being rude or annoying. All and all a fun game to play.
Most Excellant Game November 12, 2008 Warren Doughty 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
Guild Wars, in all it's incarnations, is by far the best MMORPG I've ever played. Excellant graphics, coupled with a huge gaming environment and friendly players, puts this game tops of my list. If you're looking for a great online game, I'm certain this one won't disapoint.
