Enjoying Scrabble cd July 14, 2009

I think this version of the scrabble cd game is very good and I would buy it again. The two negatives: no ongoing tally of the player's rating which other versions have had, and, more seriously, I find for me at my level, that I have not been able to find a good playing level. That is, I have won two thirds of the games I have played at the 3rd from the highest level, which is not challenging enough for my temperament, but when I move up to the second highest level I get completely wiped out. I think the programming is not graduated enough. After 20 games I have yet to come within 150 points of the computer and I think I'm a better player than that....

Quick or leisurely game, the choice is yours. Several levels of opponent challenge are yours for the choosing.
I like the speed game, the word assists, and the appearance. A winner in my eyes.

I play Scrabble on my MacBook every evening while watching TV. It crashes at least once each evening, usually after a couple of hours of play and almost always toward the end of a game I am winning. The MacBook is running under OS X 10.5.6 and has 4 GB RAM and 100 GB free HD space so lack of resources is not the problem. I reported the problem to MacSoft by email mentioning that all that was running at the time of the crash just before sending the email was FireFox. They totally misunderstood and suggested that I had had a bad download using FireFox and should try a different browser. I had loaded from a purchased CD but they apparently assumed I had downloaded it. I responded to their email clarifying what I had said but have received no further response. I recommend the game but be prepared for crashes.

I admit... I love Scrabble. This has great features like a dictionary, hints for the best word and actual recommendations when you get stuck. You can play the computer at various levels of expertise. It's really fun and somewhat addicting.
