Product Description Microsoft Hardware has joined forces with gaming innovator Razer to bring you the ultimate high-performance wired mouse. Combining the best of both worlds, Habu unites legendary Microsoft comfort with the latest in Razer Precision. PC gaming will never be the same.
Amazon.com Product Description What happens when Microsoft Hardware joins forces with gaming peripherals innovator Razer? They give birth to an incredible advancement in gaming control: The Microsoft Habu Laser Gaming Mouse. This mouse is jam-packed with features that will give gamers a performance edge.
Habu blends high performance with a snappy design. View it from all angles. | Every hand is different, as is every gamers' button preference. The Habu is built for just about anyone with interchangeable side button panels that provide gamers with two options for different hand sizes or comfort preferences. The mouse delivers super-fast response time with a huge 2,000 DPI laser engine that is powered by Razer Precision, and a 16-bit data path with enhanced bandwidth to support high resolution tracking performance. With the Habu, your control will be snappier and more precise, so you'll have a leg-up on the competition when playing online first-person shooters and other fast-paced games. This mouse is also designed with on-the-fly DPI that lets players adjust DPI for control sensitivity. Set the mouse from 400, 800, 1600, to 2000 DPI with toggle buttons and take your customization to another level. Always-On mode was pioneered by Razer, and this advanced technology is built into the Habu. This mode gives gamers virtually no latency. And with high-speed motion detection, this mouse lets gamers get their speed-on with movement of up to 45 inches per second and 20G acceleration. The Habu features seven programmable buttons with Hyperesponse that allows gamers to program their button functions and caters to their favorite button layout from game-to-game. A mouse this advanced wouldn't be complete without a snappy design. The custom-looking Habu features GlowPipe side rails and large, ultra-slick Teflon buttons that provide smooth and quiet gliding. The mouse also features an ergonomic design that is built for right-handed comfort with a slip-resistant grip, and rubber-coated buttons for improved comfort during those long hours of arduous gaming. Lastly, the mouse features a thin, flexible wire that provides gamers with the speed of a wired mouse, but the feel of a wireless device.

Frustrating double-click issue November 16, 2009 Rowland G. Rose III (Elkhart, IN) Edit: Great support from Microsoft! They offered to replace my Habu mouse with the Sidewinder X5, or give the money back. I took the money back, but I might get the Sidewinder X5 anyway because it's reviewed pretty well and has the DPI switching I love. Thanks Microsoft! Here is the review I made before:
There is one issue with this mouse that trumps all the other cool stuff about it: Accidental double-clicks. Not the result of a software setting anywhere, but seemingly a hardware issue that makes it so every 30 clicks more or less is a double click.
It started a few months after I bought it. After scouring the internet for a fix, the only thing that ended up working was pressing the button down really hard. But even then the issue would come back in a few days, and now even that fix seems not to work.
I love the DPI switching buttons. I love the look, I love the feel, I love the software that comes with it. But none of that matters if the mouse itself doesn't work right.
I am a web designer, so I need to be precise when working with software like Photoshop. The mouse performs great up until the issue pops up again.
I'm off to buy a cheaper mouse with a better record on reliability. And yes, I'm switching to Logitech. Microsoft mice are out of the picture for me for a while. *not
Lastly, I will say that I never tried opening the mouse to fix it, because I don't have the know how. Maybe this would be an easy fix for someone out there, but not for me.
Going back to my Logitech G500 November 11, 2009 SmileyRobin (Portland, Oregon) I am going back to Logitech, G500 probably. Why? Well I burn up my mice playing PC Games, FPS in particular, so the mouse is important to me. The logitech are tough, durable and precise. I took a chance on the Habu thinking with who developed it maybe it will be good.
First impression of the Habu was that the software sucks. But no reason to beat a dead horse on that one. But I did think it felt nice and played very nicely after everything was up and working. But after about a month of normal PC gaming use the roller wheel broke. Looking inside the axle of the wheel is plastic (surprise) and sheered clean off. Getting someone to replace it has been fun and unsuccessful up to this point.
Conclusion: Too expensive for the quality. Feels cheep and broke like it was built cheep. Software needs massive overhaul. Will I buy it again? No chance!
Good but be careful November 7, 2009 Anthony L. Bexley (Mashpee, MA) I had this month little over a month and I loved it, it was comfortable, stylish, good precision... until it broke. For some reason these mice have a hardware problem that causes them to double click after a period of use. I called Microsoft support and after a few email exchanges and they informed me the the Habu had been discontinued and they were replacing them with Microsoft Sidewinder X5s.... and I hate that mouse because it feels like a cheap piece of crap...
So in short, very good mouse until it breaks... then... you're stuck w/ a cheap sidewinder : /
Great mouse but SO many issues with software August 24, 2009 Xavier Ciliento (Buenos Aires, BA Argentina) 1st 2 weeks it worked great, excellent weight balance, sumer smooth, all you can ask for. After that it started to randomly turn on and off. I havent found a way to fix it yet, i have another mouse connected that im using and i just see Habu turn on and off all day. It seems like the issue when you reset and you have to unplug and plug again but this issue is different, and of course if you go to microsoft they direct link you to razer and in razer the only support is the firmware/driver update that i already did and didn't work at all. I tried a few forums, and emailing razer support 1 month ago, and still no answer.
Habu Mouse June 27, 2009 R. C. Curry (San Antonio, TX USA) I like the size and shape very well. The programmable buttons make this mouse good for most apps. The 'always' on feature is great for my games, response is very good . I would buy it again and on Amazon the price was excellent.
