4 out of 5 stars Fun for Casual Gamers & Non-Gamers   November 21, 2009
Tiger (San Jose, CA)
The Wii is a pretty fun as a casual game experience. Only on the Wii I can play many games with my wife. She uses it a lot more than I do. We primarily use the Wii to play casual games together. The graphics don't measure up at all to XBox 360 or Playstation 3, but can still be plenty of fun for games where graphics are not important.

I use the Wii for Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Boom Blox, Mario Party, etc. I find myself using the Wii less and less and my XBox 360 much more now since I more often want to play some deeper, more graphically intensive games. There far fewer Wii games I am interested than those for other consoles, but the other consoles do not yet have the unique casual game experience that my wife and friends are excited to play.

I still recommend and like the Wii, but it isn't trying to compete with Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 which are entirely different kinds of gaming experiences. You either want to play some of the casual games with motion controls or you don't. If you aren't a big fan of Wii Sports, then there is probably little reason to buy a Wii.

Adult friends and family have bought the Wii that would have never bought or played games anymore. So it definitely has opened games up to them again. However most of them have significantly decreased their usage of the Wii after the first few months or year, haven't bought new games, or have stopped playing all-together. So if you don't play and are wondering how long lasting it will be, you probably will not play forever. But if you want something fun that you can do in a group setting, it is a nice option.

I consider a Wii a replacement for board games. It is fresher and more exiciting ina group setting than board games for many and can be used once in a while when you want a casual game like that.

5 out of 5 stars get one   November 20, 2009

It's great fun, but you have probably heard that already. There are a ton of fun group games you can play with this thing: it's not a high definition gaming monster, but if you want to entertain your friends, there's no video gaming option like the Wii for finding games that they can just pick up a controller and play somewhat competently.

If you had any appreciation for Super Mario Bros, or SMB3, you'll need to pick up the New Super Mario Brothers Wii. It's one of the most fun games you'll ever play with 2 or three others.

Cons:
* by the time you get done buying extra wiimotes and nunchucks and hd cables and batteries and balance boards and all that jazz, it's not too tough to have spent $400 or more.
* not high definition

Pros:
* great for parties
* fun controllers
* mario, zelda, and metroid
* ability to download and play "old-school" games
* just about everything else
* your old parents can play it and have fun
* your even older grandparents can play it and have fun
* you'll get a good laugh watching them do so
* option to buy fitness games that won't make you fat and dumb if you play them a lot

just buy one already.

5 out of 5 stars Love the Wii!   November 18, 2009

My husband and I agreed that we would buy a Wii and we could have some fun with it in the winter and on our weekends. Well, its not winter yet, but we are loving us some Wii. It's not just a kids toy, this can so be for adults too! We still haven't used all the features on it, but we've been playing Wii sports. I like that it keeps track of our high scores. And who would've thought I would break out a sweat playing that game. But its all fun and we're looking forward to playing other games on it. This was a good choice!

4 out of 5 stars Good Time Pass Technology. Can Access Interent!!   November 16, 2009

This product is cool for it's technology.
I like the golf game! Good graphics.
The sensor is good, placed even unevenly on top of TV and still picked my movements.
The surprising part was being able to access internet from this WII. Can access any site, even youtube play videos etc!!
Have it for 2 months but not really used it until totally bored.

Definitely a gadget to have but not sure how much one will use it. Kids will love it!!
