It's a mouse pad... what do you expect? July 9, 2009 C. WILLIAMS (Alabama) I've had this mousepad for nearly 3 years now but just recently started writing reviews so I'll give my thoughts.
Pro's:
Excellent surface area - generally larger than 95% of the pads on the market.
Strong and durable - solid design.
Multi-Surface: I love that you can flip over the pad, one side is more slick allowing for faster tracking, the other side is a little grittier allowing for more precision.
Cons:
Price
This pad can be great for anyone, but isn't meant for everyone. What I mean by that is the casual computer user won't notice the difference between this pad and most others on the market (or just using their desk or another hard surface for that matter). However for gamers seeking precision and the slightest advantage over others this could tilt the scales in your favor (albeit slighlty).
Notice, I did not comment on the wrist rest as I found it to be uncomfortable and a little too cumbersome for my wrist. I'm not sure if it was the placement of the pad in relation to the height of my desk or what, but it did not work for me.
The worst mousepad ever May 5, 2009 Nikola Novak (Croatia) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
The first thing that happened after I bought this mouse pad is that it didn't work. I'd move my mouse on the pad and the cursor just wouldn't move. I took it back to the store and was surprised to find out that it worked there. So I took it back home, what else was there to do?
It was only after a couple of hours of experimentation that I'd finally found out what went wrong. I have a cordless optical mouse. The receiver plugs in to the USB which is right next to my LAN slot. When the LAN cable is plugged in it seems to interfere with the signal from my mouse. But this is only the problem when I'm using this pad! If I'm not using it and just move the mouse over the surface of the table, or some other mouse pad, then there is no problem. But when using this pad, and the LAN cable is plugged in, then the cursor just won't move, or it moves but the movement is too jerky to control.
However, that's not all! The edge of the pad is made of some sort of metal which gets really cold at room temperatures. If you use the pad then your wrist or the place just below your wrist will lean against the edge of the pad and at times it could be so cold it hurts (especially so if you sometimes like to open the window).
So, if you value your hands and your money, be wary of this mouse pad. You'll probably be better off just using the surface of the table or using some ordinary, cheap, spongy mouse pad to protect the surface from friction damage.
Edit: I've later learned that the pad also has a wrist rest. Personally, I don't like those because they are usually thick and regardless of how soft they are, they're still interfering with the proper function of the veins in my wrist. Still, the pad itself was so expensive and so inefficient I'm not even thinking of buying an extension for it. There's pads that are a hundred times cheaper (literally), and by far more efficient. I was fool enough to think that the more expensive it is, the better it gets.
Superior wrist support April 30, 2009 Robert J. Betts Originally I was not intending to purchase the pad with the new Razer mouse. I am glad that I did. While not a gamer, I spend enough time on the computer daily to appreciate the well designed wrist rest.
Works great for a while, but the coating wears off the pad April 29, 2009 G. Ludwig (TN) I bought this together with a Razer Diamondback optical mouse. It works great for controlling high precision mice like Razer makes, however after about 6 months of average use the textured coating on the mouse pad wore off making the mousepad slick which defeats its purpose of using it for control.
I would go with a different brand of mat.
Best Mousepad I ever owned January 2, 2009 Randall D. Lind (St. Petersburg, Florida) I only use the speed side but this is the best mouse pad I ever own. It make my Logitech MX Revolution work so well. I can use the mouse on any surface but it works the best on this pad. I had this pad since May 2007.
