Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Zero may be difficult to count, but if you look carefully you can find it everywhere. It's the sound of the stars at night, it's the leaves on a tree in wintertime, and it's the balls left in the bin at recess. Betsy Franco's poetic, metaphorical text and Shino Arihara's stirring illustrations lead children on an exploration of zero as both a number and an abstract idea.

Customer Reviews: simply explaining autumn November 5, 2009 H. Oliveira (Middleborough, MA United States) really nice way to explain autumn to a 2-4 year old... We all loved it and will read over and over...
A fine counting book pairing math concepts with encouragement for kids to find numbers in their world October 20, 2009 Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) Shino Arihara's drawings accompany the fine counting book pairing math concepts with encouragement for kids to find numbers in their world - specifically, zero - in everything from tree branches to stars. How do you count zero, a number defined by what isn't there? ZERO IS THE LEAVES ON THE TREE is a poetic account of how.

A lovely book that also introduces the concept of zero. It will be a good book to use for a writing exercise for teachers.
