Well worth the price!! Invaluable! October 29, 2009 Mist (Traveling) I bought this book along with the Kaplan books to study for the GRE after being out of college for 11 years. I was never good at math, and never liked it. With this book I had trememdous success teaching myself, and here's the kicker - I even enjoyed it at times! For Amazon's price of less than $6, it is absolutely invaluable. If it taught me only how to solve one type of word problem it would have been worth that much, but it taught me much, much more. Lots of practice problems and exercises. I did significantly better on the GRE than I EVER thought possible, and I attribute much of my success to this book and lots of study time! I'm going to keep it around for future reference, too! Highly recommended!
great review September 30, 2009 Afra This book helped me a lot with GRE prep! It provides you with a thorough review of most of the concepts you'll encounter on ETS-style tests, and there are plenty of practice questions and quizzes with detailed explanations of the answers. Everyone in the other reviews has said that you need a month to get through it, but I procrastinated and got through the entire thing in the 2-3 days before my exam. (I did skip a couple of sections where I didn't need review, though)
One thing I love about this book is that it's about the size of a paperback, so it's not terribly intimidating like most of those other gigantic review books.
A Great Starting Point When Studying for the GRE Quantative September 25, 2009 Akua A (Ann Arbor, MI) I have always had a lot of trouble with math. But, with this book, I was able to improve my score on the GRE Quantitative section by 110 points. It breaks down the concepts you need to know in the best way possible. The only caveat is that it does not cover the basic statistics which may come up on the current GREs.
Ironically, this was the least expensive book I purchased to study for the GRE Math, but, by far, the most useful!
Math Review September 22, 2009 April M. Griffith I got this book when I scored low on compass and was going to have to take a noncredit class. I have been out of school for 15 years. My score went up 30 points and was able to test out of the noncredit class. This is an awesome tool for anyone who needs help with standardized tests.
Great, easy to review September 17, 2009 E. Delleola (Chicago, IL USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this book because I was going back to college. It's been a few years since I dropped out and they required me to take a placement test. I was worried because my math had become incredibly rusty.
The way the book is setup is awesome. You take a pretest before every chapter and then they give you an answer sheet with page numbers so you can find where in the book you need to look on how to solve that problem. This book actually taught a few things better and easier than some of my HS teachers. I thought it was incredibly effective and it mostly saved me time because I think that I would've done well either way but I would've just had to study more. I literally only went through the book once and found the sections that it said I should brush up on and it worked like charm.
