Product Description Get ready to take flight as two certified flight instructors guide you through the pilot ratings as it is done in the real world, starting with Sport Pilot training, then Private Pilot, followed by the Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot, and Air Transport Pilot. They cover the skills of flight, how to master Flight Simulator, and how to use the software as a learning tool towards your pilotâs license. More advanced topics demonstrate how Flight Simulator X can be used as a continuing learning tool and how to simulate real-world emergencies.

Finally some clues to FSX mysteries November 16, 2009 Bookie Joint (Allentown, NJ) This book is a godsend to end the frustration with FSX. Clear answers to some of the area not covered in depth by FSX learning center.
Great Writing but Poor Production Values November 10, 2009 Jerome Beck (Santa Rosa, CA , USA) These are tough days for book publishers. While the writing is five star the publishers production values are two star.
All the illustrations are in black and white. To see color illustrations you have to go the publishers web site. Instead of the books "missions" being on CD or DVD you have to go the Publisher's web site to download them and paste them in FSX. All the appendices referred to in the book are on the Publisher's web site where they must be downloaded and printed- by you. In my copy the printing is faint and hard to read.
Wiley (the Publisher) has done everything to keep costs down- and it shows. The cover was the only item they splurged on- don't be fooled.
There are now a number of books on earlier versions of FS that are now available on the net for free.
Very nice book for "wanna be a pilot" and for virtual pilots November 9, 2009 Lívio Morais (Portugal) This book is excellent for plane aficionados who want to perfect their flying abilities, turning the FSX into a more realistic simulator.
If you fly virtually and want to became a real airplane pilot read this book and enrich your knowledge before making the step to the expensive real world of flying.
It has plenty of flying examples to train in the FSX and many histories of real aviation.
Fine step by step training November 8, 2009 Ozzy (São Paulo, SP, BRAZIL) It goes all the way. A real directory for FSX. Nice and easy to comply the lessons. Some are not available, others videos faulty. But your computer has to be good (video card specially) to run all the realism available in the FSX, wich more is betther.
FSX the missing manual October 10, 2009 Jaime Moreno (Farmersville,CA) There used to be a time when Microsoft actually sold Flight Simulator with a thick printed manual with landing charts and an explanation of how stuff worked in FS. I think the last one I could find was from FS2002 and it wasn't even that good of a reference. Well the same cannot be said of this book. It's packed with tons of useful information and charts on how to make the most use of FSX. I like how they explain the theory and then actually walk you through the mission step-by-step to get practice. First they start you off with baby steps flying the piper club then progress from there to more complicated planes. The only reason I'm taking off one star is that the instructions for downloading and installing the missions that go along with the book aren't very clear. If you can't download and get them installed you can't follow the book so they are an integral part of the book. If it was actually printed all in color it'd surely deserve 5 stars. Overall, though I sure got my money's worth out if it though since it covers thing in FSX that I had no clue how or what they were for like, simulating low fuel, etc. Never had a clue how to use the Garmin either before getting this book. I just wish I had more time to play with it.
