5 out of 5 stars DK does it again   November 18, 2009

As a librarian, I have always been impressed with DK titles. They do such a great job with illustrations and for boys who are reluctant readers (usually), this is just the ticket. My 9 yr old grandson is really into Legos and although he is not a reluctant reader (just the opposite), it will be a hit on Christmas morning. I probably will have to rip it out of his hands to come to the dinner table.

5 out of 5 stars LEGO my Lobot!   November 18, 2009

DK does LEGO Star Wars justice by profiling one of the most inventive toy lines of recent memory. LEGO itself is an enduring brand, but LEGO Star Wars is the sweet icing on a wonderful cake. Oh, I can't get enough of the line...yet the toys are so expensive and I keep buying them anyway (truly an addition then, right?). Yes, one can always hope for more in a volume, but with so many sets already, there's no way DK could create an all-encompassing tome about the many terrific Star Wars LEGO sets at a price point for the masses. I'm happy with the summaries and the pictures. The time line of LEGO Star Wars releases is particularly noteworthy. And it's neat to see how the toy line has evolved and how certain sets have been reconfigured over the years. I could quibble and say that the book falls short in the thoroughness of its descriptions, that I would have loved more coverage of the designers and the Adult Fans of LEGO (AFOLs), and that more attention could have been given to the minifigures, but I'm satisfied, even gleeful with what DK has presented. The publishing house deserves credit for deciding to add LEGO Star Wars to "The Visual Dictionary" series, and Simon Beecroft merits praise for adding another book to Star Wars universe. Let's leave it at that. The exclusive Luke minifigure that comes with the volume is a happy bonus.

5 out of 5 stars MY STAR WARS NUTS   November 16, 2009

I PURCHASED THIS FOR MY TWO GRANDSONS FOR CHRISTMAS. I KNOW THEY WILL LOVE IT. THEY ARE BOTH STAR WAR NUTS. THEY LOVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH STAR WARS.

5 out of 5 stars As creative friendly as the Lego toys themselves, for kids   November 15, 2009
Harold Wolf (Wells, IN United States)
The grandkids are loving, loving, loving it. The large colorful pictures of lego star ships, war ships, space stations, and such, get them excited. Great kids book, just like they enjoy looking through. And the figure photos set them off in animation acting like they have become one of the characters. How much fun is that? Loads of fun for the kids, and also for the adults watching their pleasure and excitement. So refreshing and relatively inexpensive for all that it provides to the little ones.

And the Luke Skywalker figure is a huge bonus.

The book (Lego Star Wars: the visual Dictionary) is better than a movie.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for Young Lego Fanatics   November 13, 2009

I purchased this book for my son's 6th birthday. He REALLY likes it! It's full of plenty of pictures and lots of interesting information about the Lego Star Wars products. I've found him looking at it while he builds with Lego's, using it as inspiration for creating more flying ships, hideouts for storm troopers, or anything else his imagination can dream up. I'd highly recommend this for your Lego enthusiast!
