Amazon.com Product Description The date is 1974. The place is Budapest, Hungary. Erno Rubik, an admirer of geometry and 3-D forms creates the world's most perfect -- and addictive -- puzzle. More than three decades later the Rubik's cube is still one of the best selling brainteasers. Whether it was full size or the smaller keychain version almost every child had this puzzle by in 1980 when it found worldwide success. Elementary school kids were seen solving it with their feet on "That's Incredible!", conspiracy theorists believed it was an Eastern bloc tactic to distract American youth from getting an education, and Cubaholics Anonymous was formally established to help cure the compulsive need to solve it. | | Each side is just over 2", while each sticker is about " square. | For all of the hullabaloo, the Rubik's Cube actually has a pretty straightforward premise. The faces of the cube are covered by nine stickers in six solid colors (one for each 2.25" side); when the puzzle is solved, each face is one solid color. Then you realize as you turn the rows and columns and see all the colors flash by that there are 43 quintillion possible pattern combinations (that's 43 million millions), but just one right one. Maybe Cubaholics Anonymous wasn't such a bad idea after all
. This Rubik's Cube has reflective red, white, blue, yellow, green, and orange colored stickers with an official twenty-fifth anniversary sticker in the center white square. The cube is packaged in a clear hexagon box and includes a black display stand. There is also a solutions hint and game suggestion book, just in case.

Rubik's Cubes are Awesome! November 11, 2008 I love these things! The answer guide that came in the box was pretty useless, to tell you the truth. You're better off finding an answer guide online. But figuring out how to solve the cube on your own is awesome and rewarding. It always makes for a nice break when work is getting stressful.
Who doesn't love these things... October 29, 2008 Who doesn't love these things - once you get going, they're absolutely uncontrollably addictive. At the price on Amazon, especially if you have a Prime membership, this is just the best gift to get anyone - especially after someone has picked up yours off your coffee-table and fiddled with it for an hour. It's not going to stop a bullet if someones shooting at you, but it does its job - I've had mine for a while, and it's still holding strong!
Rubik's Cube September 16, 2008 The quality of the toy is very good. It movies smoothly w/o any problem. My son loves it. Great product!
Many hours of fun or frustration August 16, 2008 You gotta love the rubics cube. It is just an all time favorite and classic toy. I remember playing with this toy 30 years ago. Once i removed the stickers to complete the puzzle. Of course this ruins the toy for future attempts at the puzzle. Then later i learned how to take it apart and reassemble the puzzle so it was solved. Now as an adult i just sit up for hours ever so close to solving it without the former mentioned tactics. The cube comes with instructions for solving. i just don't get them though. Still you gotta love the rubics cube
Back to the Future... July 25, 2008 The cube remind me of myself twenty years ago!
Got couple of cheapo cubes ($1, $2 versions) and the original is still the best!
The only reason why I did not give it a higher star is the Cube Professor is a WAY better challenge. I only play the 3x3x3 when my daughter requests it.
