Lion Cub arrives but only half works November 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The WowWee Lion Club is wonderful and my 13 month old friend loved it. The eyes and mouth worked great after I changed the original batteries but the purring part did not. What a hassle to have to send it back to Amazon for a refund, especially since it came in a box large enough to hold an Ambrams Army tank. Even so, I am trying again and reordered based on the child's reaction and her parents. They wanted to order all three!
Love the Lion! November 11, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I got this lion for my 6 year old daughter before she got her tonsils out. She had seen a commercial ONCE and fell in love. She was hoping she might get it for Christmas, but was tickeled to get it at her "good-bye tonsils" party. She was excited to show the hospital staff how he roared and purred - even his little mouth moves. Most commented that their kids, even older ones, would love to have one (unless they kept it for themselves)! They were amazed at how life-like he is and one nurse commented that she wouldn't be surprised if he pounced! Since she could easily turn it off, it stayed tucked benieth her blankets during surgery. He was a perfect companion to cuddle as she recovered - she still sleeps with him. "Tawney" is still very much a favorite, now a bit more active in her play! I would highly recommend this sweet little lion!
animared cub November 9, 2008 Cute product, certainly life like. Animation workd well as the cube at times seems very life-like
Poor Quality, Very Disappointing November 6, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought the two lions - the tan and white for my grandchildren. I wish I would have seen the review with the following quote, "The first thing I noticed was how loud the mechanical noise is. It most definitely overpowers the lion cub noises that it makes. It's hard to find the animal noises very cute and appealing with the toy whiring and grinding like that. " The mechanic noise ruins the toy. It is not as interacitve as I had hope either.
My first impression was certainly not "WowWee" October 30, 2008 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I ordered this toy as a birthday present for my 3 year old son. He had seen it on tv, and thought it was "so cute". When I received the package, I wanted to test it out to make sure all was working well. This toy comes with 4 double A batteries already installed because you are supposed to be able to test it in the box. Well, the one I received had dead batteries, so I was not able to test it without taking it out of the box to replace the batteries. I tried to be as careful as possible when removing the toy from the packaging, in case I needed to send it back, but there is absolutely no way to get the toy out without essentially ripping the box apart. Once I had the toy out, I replaced the batteries and it began to work. The first thing I noticed was how loud the mechanical noise is. It most definitely overpowers the lion cub noises that it makes. It's hard to find the animal noises very cute and appealing with the toy whiring and grinding like that. Also, the cub that I received does not close one of its eyes all the way, and on the same eye, the fabric is not glued close enough to the eyeball, so the black mechanical part that opens and closes is visible. This thing is also not anywhere near as cute as it is on the commercial. I don't really see my son playing with this thing very much, and I think I just wasted my money. Which, by the way, I think was too much, considering the quality of the toy.
