Product Description Little ones will learn their colors while playing a fun game. Choose a color snail that you think will come in first and one that will come in last. Roll the wooden die and move the snails that match the colors rolled on the dice. If two of the same colors are rolled, then your snail would move two spaces. Onceall of the snails have reached their color circle at the end of the board, the game is over. Just remember to keep track of which snails were first and which finished last. The players who chose the right snails win.
Editorial Review So many children's games require an adult to help out or set things up. Not this one. The Snail's Pace Race is a simple game that proceeds at a child's pace. Everything is based on colors, including the dice, without a printed word in sight. Players roll the dice to see which two of the colorful wooden snails they'll move forward one space on the board. No matter how many children play, all six snails enter the race. The goal is to guess which snail will be the first--or the last--to cross the finish line. --Lynne Sampson

everybody wins January 26, 2008 Our 5-year old loves this game and even plays it by himself and gives us blow by blow action if I'm making supper and can't play. Our 11 yr-old likes it as well. Probably because losers are winners and the kids love to see how different the races turns out each time. The bizarre thing is the game is a lot like betting on the races without the exchange of money... so that aspect of it might not sit well with some. We, however, love to cheer on the colorful snails!
teacher's review January 20, 2008 I have used this game in two different pre-K classes. It is simple and fun. It teaches colors, taking turns, being patient, being a good sport. It is great for 2-6 players. I use it with one die only, but can go to two dice when the children are ready for a more complicated version. The only complaint I have is that the box could be sturdier.
The BEST game for little ones...no loosers ...no tears! January 8, 2008 The magic in the game is that the SNAILS are the winners so that no child is a winner or looser....PERFECT for the competitive types... no tears.... just fun betting on which colored snail will WIN!!! One of the VERY best games for little ones...VERY BEST!
lost interest fast October 22, 2005 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
This is a very well made game, however it did not hold my kids attention for long. We prefer Hi-Ho Cherry-O, Uno, or Hungry Hippos for my three year old. My kids only seem interested in it at all when they are one and two years old. After that...it's time to move on.
great for little ones March 28, 2005 my son does not yet understand the "choosing a color" and sticking to that same color throughout the game thing. this is a great game that teaches him to take turns without getting frustrated that he can't be the same color as momma. We love it! It is a great introduction to more sophisticated board games.
