Product Description Be sure your little chef uses the oven mitt to remove these 6 delectable-looking wooden cupcakes from their baking sheet. This special set has 4 dry erase markers shaped like icing tubes to decorate the smooth, wipe-off cupcake tops. With colorful baking cups and decorative wooden candles, these low-cal cupcakes will be the hit of birthday and tea parties!

| Customer Reviews: Great toy, but it has a flaw... November 18, 2009 Mojo Mama (North Carolina) We have a lot of Melissa and Doug items and we're always generally very impressed with them. The cupcake set is great fun and our six year old wanted it so much that she bought it with her own money. To start off with, it's a high quality toy. They're basically wooden cupcakes with candles that velcro on top. The whole concept of the icing markers is fun and all the kids (friends included) enjoy "decorating" the cupcakes. The part you draw on is a sort of plastic lid that fits over the wooden cupcake and is supposed to look like icing. It even comes with a little baking tin (wooden) and an oven mitt. There are paper cupcake liners in fun patterns included that aren't going to last forever, but hey...they are paper. We've generally got liners in the pantry so that's not a huge deal.
The big flaw in this toy is that the wooden cupcakes are not finished in a type of paint that will allow you to wipe the dry erase marker off of them. Only the plastic "icing" can be erased. Admittedly if you look at the very fine print on the back of the box it reads "Markers are intended for wipe-off icing surfaces only. Do not use markers on other components." Realistically however, giving kids some dry erase markers and letting them go to town on pretend cupcakes, is going to result in the entire cupcake getting "decorated." In the scheme of things it doesn't really matter because my daughter loves them anyway, but it does keep me from giving this toy Melissa and Doug's usual high approval rating. If this is something that is going to upset you or your child, you'd be better off buying another of their products.
No messy kitchen October 25, 2009 A. Culberson (Plano, TX) Got this for the 2 year old's birthday. Big sis who is almost nine couldn't wait to play also. 2 year old loves to play cook and feed. 8 year old loves to decorate the cakes. I like that we can decorate too, but not make such a mess in the kitchen. They're also 0 grams of fat per serving.
Great Birthday gift for a little girl October 14, 2009 MomToTwo (Chicago, IL, USA) I purchased this item for a 3 year old girl's birthday party. It was a hit! Her and her friends played with this the entire party. Other moms asked where I got it. It really is a wonderful toy. I've already bought another one for another girl's birthday.
another great Melissa and doug toy! October 9, 2009 momof1 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
We are very big fans of Melissa and Doug toys so when this new cupcake set came out we were anxious to play with it.
It's another quality wood toy like all of their other play food toys (cookies, cake, pizza, cutting box). My hesitation on not giving it 5 stars would be the cupcake liners are very flimsy, pretty much what you would buy in a store to bake a cupcake. Those will not hold up to heavy play. I love the idea of the markers in "icing tubes" but once the ink runs dry on these you loose the play value of being able to decorate the tops with icing/markers. Also, with all M&D toys now there is no lid or keep tight storage container for all the pieces.
