Great fun for kids, very impressive quality for a kids toy July 18, 2010 D. Grace (Michigan) My son got this for this 7th birthday and he loves it. It's a ton of fun with all kinds of ways to make music and play it back. It's really impressive for being a kids toy. The only drawback is that it's not compatible with Windows 7, so we can't download his songs to the computer
Music July 17, 2010 Janice G. Brown I ordered this for my seven year old grand son and he loves it.It is easy to work and a great buy for the money. It makes a nice Christmas or birthday gift.
Cool but a little gimicky and cheap manufacturing April 18, 2010 E. Allan I am a long time lover of music and I love playing with electronic beat machines and sequencers. I bought this for my 2 year old so he could play with music and have some fun. He hasn't been that interested in the toy because he's a little too young to appreciate it, but I have had a lot of fun playing with it. Something with this many features would have cost about 800 bucks when I was a kid, so I consider it a great value.
The only complaint I have is that the IPOD connection doesn't seem to work right and the directions for downloading and installing new loops is very confusing and vague. I got music to play from my IPOD on the machine in real time, but the volume is very faint and distorted. There is no way the volume from my Ipod could get loud enough to make the toy work well with my IPOD, which was a disappointment. I don't know if I got a defective item or if other people who have used this feature know something I don't. Maybe my audio cord is messed up and thats causing the problem.
If I were a teenager and had been given this for a gift, I would have been in heaven. The value for the price is outstanding. I can't wait till my kid is old enough to appreciate what this thing can really do.
Great TOY! March 11, 2010 C. Davenport (Cottonwood, UTAH) This is a great MUSIC toy! My boys play on it for hours. They fight on who gets to play it, so we have to set a timer! It is so fun, and even adults get into it.
Wish they had a little more music selection, but still it is so fun.
My kids think they are DJ's makin music.
My kids are 5 and 8, and it is great for them.
Only so-so March 9, 2010 gerryg (Albuquerque, NM USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this for my 10-year old son. He was really thrilled to get it. He used it a little bit then put it on the shelf and I haven't seen him pick it up but once or twice since. I worked with him once and we really felt like it was limited, kind of a one-trick pony. It really is a toy, not a music creation station. He has more fun with my daughter's sub-$100 Yamaha keyboard, which itself has some back ground tracks you can jam to as well as MIDI i/o, and even more so with the Korg DS-10 Synthesizer for the Nintendo DS (since replaced by the DS-10 Plus, about $28), which does everything the Ucreate can do. We hoped the Ucreate would let you do more than it does. Overall it felt like a waste of money. If it were easier to figure out how to save tunes and it let you upload your own sounds into it (maybe it does this, but it their proprietary software was tough to use so we didn't even bother), it might have been a 4-star product, but I can't recommend it as is.
