Amazon.com Review Mattel's Matchbox Rocky the Robot Truck is an interactive dump truck designed for children ages three and older. Talking, driving, lifting, dumping, and even dancing, this toy dump truck is a boy's robotic companion. Speaking over 100 phrases, Rocky has a clever line for everything. You can do all the work by hand, or get him to help out. | | Rocky the Robot Truck Ages: 3+
Requires: - 4 "C" batteries (included)

This is no ordinary dump truck -- Rocky talks and dances. View larger. | Load 'Em Up and Move 'Em Out Built with strong, durable plastic, Rocky is ready to handle heavy loads. Your child can manually tilt his dump bed to unload it -- or make some noise and he'll do it for you. And when you push Rocky forward or pull him backward on all six wheels, his blue headlights are activated and he'll make some noise of his own, with engine sounds and honking. The smokestack on the front of the truck is the primary way to control this robot truck. Tilting the lever back gets Rocky to stand on his back four wheels. The truck is automatically set in dump mode, but pressing the red button on top of the smokestack several times will switch it to dancing mode, where he'll shake his upper truck body to music. Pushing the lever forward returns Rocky to a normal truck position. The red button also cues Rocky to say one of his many phrases or jokes, and also wakes him up if he's taking a nap. If you don't play with Rocky for a while, he will go into sleep mode -- a may even snore. Kids get Rocky's attention by placing objects in his dump bed, or by pushing or pulling him. Make Some Noise! Rocky is very responsive, interactive, and engaging -- often prompting kids to make noise so he can show off his dancing and dumping skills. Because you can play with him manually or with his help, Rocky makes playtime easy and simple. However, with only one button for a couple of operations, Rocky's automatic modes may take some getting used to for younger children. They may have a difficult time getting directly past the robot's talking to get to the dancing mode. Rocky The Robot Truck comes with four "C" batteries. What's in the Box Robot truck and instruction booklet. (Batteries included.)
Engaging and interactive, Rocky is the ideal playmate for younger kids. View larger. |

Entertaining but a little noisy! February 28, 2010 Proud Grandma (Minnesota) Purchased this as a Christmas gift for my grandson. He loved it! Seems sturdy enough and is definitely entertaining. The only negative, according to my daughter, is that it is somewhat noisy.
fun toy; could be better February 21, 2010 J. McDaniel My two year old son is really in to motor vehicles of all types and he fell in love with this toy as soon as he saw it. He enjoys dancing with it and filling it up with toys and dumping them (it makes cool little sound effects when the child does this). I think this would make a great "dream toy" for any little kid that is really in to things like cars, construction vehicles, etc. However, there is practically no educational value to this toy, which is a bit of a shame - I think it would have made a great platform for teaching things like counting. The toy is very durable and can even take being rolled around on its wheels sideways while in the standing position. I do wish it knew more phrases than it does and had some form of more sophisticated voice recognition.
rocko February 6, 2010 Nicholas A. Ruh (ULYSSES, KANSAS, US) This a fun toy who has a lot of personality. The batteries seem to last a long time. In the morning if he's not in his spot you have to be careful not to bump him because you will wake him up and your kid LOL!!!
Even 5 year old girls love this! February 6, 2010 Judy Smith-Fleager (Vancouver, WA.) I bought this for my 5 year old granddaughter. She loves it. She plays with it all the time and she is a girl who loves to wear pink! I even like watching it to see what it will do and say next. My other 4 year old granddaughter loved Rocky also so I may be buying another one!
True frustration free packaging February 5, 2010 W. Siegfried (oklahoma) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This item arrived in a timely manner. All it took to free this toy from the box was something to break the tape. My active 3 year old boy enjoys this toy. We have to monitor him closely, this truck was made more for a "hands off" kind of kid,who doesn't have the urge to drive or control Rocky. I will say in the 2 months we have had the toy and have not had any problems or broke any pieces.
