Cool Truck; Poorly Designed Wheels... Rather Disappointing November 11, 2009 goonius (a room in a house on a street in a city just like any other.) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My daughter saved her allowance for this truck, and we were thrilled to find it on Amazon for 35% off the list price, so we really got a great deal on it. In fact we bought two - the other as a gift for our friends' son.
Let me say first: I love Green Toys. I love that they are a US-based company that recycles and makes really cool simple toys that are 100% safe. And I love the classic chunky-style of this dump truck.
However, I think it's ridiculous that the wheels don't roll on hardwood floors (our house is all hardwood floors, save for a couple area rugs). It's a notch better on the rugs, and outdoors in the grass. The wheels still seem reluctant to turn, even on terrain they can grip on. This seems like such an obvious design flaw. Didn't they test drive the dump truck before mass-producing it? I mean, we're talking wheels and an axle here, it's not rocket science.
We decided to keep it anyway, or rather my daughter did. It was her purchase, after all. She doesn't seem to mind terribly sliding it around indoors. It gets the most use in the sandbox anyway.
I guess if I had to buy it again, heck, I probably would... at least if it were on sale again. Who knows, we might add the recycle truck to the collection despite the fact I suspect it would have the same flaw... if it goes on sale. I guess it comes down to this: Do you want a safe toy? Or one that works? OK, I want both. Maybe I'll disassemble the thing and see if there's an easy fix.
In summation, this is definitely not Green Toys' best effort.
No hardwood floors November 8, 2009 Drowsy Bear 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bought this toy and fortunately tried it out before giving it to my son. The wheels do not have the ability to roll on hardwood floors. Had to return what looked like a great toy. For those thinking of using it outdoors or on carpet, the truck should be fun.
Nicolas' Trucks October 14, 2009 Jill Milas (La Canada, California United States) This was for my grandson. He is a strong 2 1/2 yr old and big for his age. He was so surprised, happy
and immediately gathered together the other construction vehicles that I bought for him.
The truck was delivered as requested. It arrived in perfect condition. I was of good quality.
A sturdy & thoughtful toy September 12, 2009 SarasotaSarah (Sarasota, FL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this truck as a gift for my friend's 1 year old. He loves the filling up the truck and pushing it around. The best part is that it's 1/2 the price of a Tonka truck & made from recycled milk cartons. Another thoughtful toy from Green Toys. They're quickly becoming a favorite.
I Love This Company September 7, 2009 Teacher (CA) My daughter got this truck for her first birthday and she loves it! She pushes it around and puts things in and out of the back. I love that it is well made, healthy for her and for the environment. We also own the Sand play set and she likes this too. All the products we have seen from Green Toys are super durable (these are the sturdiest buckets I have seen yet) and well made. I am also very impressed with their costumer service.
