They do play with these a lot. June 20, 2009 Sven Johnson (Oceanside, CA USA) We bought 4 of these sets when they were on sale for 7.99 each. We gave one as a gift and kept the other three. I have two boys ages 4 and 6 - who needed help learning how to make these things. Once made, we placed them in their little "habitat" and my youngest son took them to bed with him. He doesn't want to sleep with the teddy bear, nope he wants to sleep with his little plastic aliens which really do look like shriveled gummy bears after a while. It's been a year since they started playing with these and the boys are 7 and 5 now. They now make aliens without my help.
PROS: very interesting for creative little ones who seem to love it
CONS: messy, have to supervise young children at first, have to buy refills eventually
On Earth, no one can hear them scream April 19, 2009 Amanda Richards (Georgetown, Guyana) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
What it is:
1. A multipurpose alien spaceship, which allows kids to create different types of aliens using the half-molds provided, and save them in the transparent pods.
2. Tubs of "meteor mud" to make the desired alien imprint.
3. Tubes of "lunar lava" gel to make the aliens.
4. Implements, with which you can probe, flatten and otherwise annihilate the alien population.
5. A light-up display with a volcano which can be used to squish aliens. (Batteries included)
Pros:
1. Very easy to use and set up, and even smaller kids can use it with supervision.
2. The "meteor mud" (A modeling clay/play-doh combination) is reusable.
3. Can make up to 90 different aliens
4. Fun to dissect, squish and mutilate, especially when their innards are still gooey and runny.
5. Unlike Ripley's Aliens, these are created non-invasively, painlessly and relatively mess-free.
Cons:
1. The aliens are itsy bitsy and teenie weenie (yellow polka dot bikinis optional)
2. There's only one creation chamber, and each alien takes five minutes to set, so there's a lot of waiting time, which seems longer when several kids are playing "mad scientist".
3. Some aliens are harmed in the extraction process from the "meteor mud"
4. The novelty wears off pretty quickly, but should buy you a few hours of peace and quiet while your progeny create and destroy defenseless alien life forms.
Recommended for children who like to squish things, future astronauts, budding mad scientists, or anybody past the age of five.

boys from 5 to 12 years old loved this March 11, 2009 S. Kao (New York, NY) surprisingly versatile. Well thought out and a winner in a household of boys from 5 to 12 yrs old.
Fun toy March 9, 2009 L. J. Moskowitz (Skillman, NJ United States) My six year old son and his friends have had a lot of fun using this toy. It creates little gummy textured aliens. They rip apart easily, but the fun is in the molding. He's used it a lot.
They love it..when they play with it... February 22, 2009 Tara Hall (Western Mass) I have 2 kids ages 8 & 5. They really do like to be creative with this set. HOWEVER they rarely play with with it anymore. They do play for a couple hours at a time when they play with it though. I have an extra in the gift closet. I think any child would enjoy this for a while at least :)
